I look at Religion, Homosexuality,and driving in similar ways .   Just because Homosexuality is  not for me, doesn't make me wonder why some men prefer other men , some drivers prefer a scenic route versus the fastest roads  to their destination , or some people enjoy Religion and others don't participate .
  If I spent my days and nights  wondering  about things that don't affect me or  why people are not the same like cloned sheep  ,  I wouldn't have ample  time to have so much fun   .

Rejecting the fairy tales promulgated by Christians is not the same as being an atheist. A  Christian friend of mine was famous  for spreading his interpretations of God . He was very sincere when he attempted  to convince me I should go to Church even though I don't believe , to hedge my bets in case I am wrong .

I also had a friend who wanted to "hedge his bet" he converted to Christianity, tithed a full ten percent of his income without fail, had his house blessed, the whole nine yards. I asked him about his motivations for his conversion and he fessed up to me that he didn't 100% believe, but that he was going to try it for a while to see if it brought him better luck in life. He too didn't find it very amusing when I pointed out to him that in essence he was trying to "fool God". We agreed to disagree. lol

From a scientific stand point you are quoting a book that's 1800 yrs old and using it as your only source. It wouldn't fly in any scientific community. Do you know the modern churches stance on the bible? That it's not a scientific book and not meant to be? If that's the case why are you using it as such?  
      I have said I am not religious and I mean. I think I've been in a church less than 20 times in my life, I don't read the bible and don't believe the stories in it. But you are using science to discredit something a a way that is totally unscientific. To take things from the bible and use them as scientific fact when even the pope has said it's not kind of proves it.

He sure didn't write it. Who heard it? Does it matter that it wasn't written into text for 100+ yrs? Does it matter that when it was first written in Ameriac (sic) and one word might have a different meaning or context then in other languages? You ve seen the English instructions that come in Chinese products right? Many things are lost in translation. That's not even mentioning the bible was hand written for 1000+ yrs. Have you ever heard of the phenomena called literary license? In 1000 yrs it could have happened right?  
      I read about a study done in the 60's where university students were given a chapter 22 pages long to copy word for word and graded on it. The same professor gave these word for word copies to the next class of students and repeated the process. Care to guess at how many times the process was repeated before the chapter was altered in marked ways? After 4 copies, only one of the original 50 had fewer than 15 mistakes. Many had whole paragraphs removed or added. Now think about a book the size and scope of the bible and 1000 + yrs, not to mention the language changes, whole parts of it are likely very different then when it was first written. So hang on to your one sentence as proof. Discount the fact that a dying tortured man might be out of his mind or not know what he was saying. You ve admitted that he was human, if he existed

Jesus was actually quoting Psalms 22. It starts exactly that way but delivers the message that even in our darkest hour, God delivers us.  

There has never been a scientific constant or law as you put it that's changed? In the last 60 yrs? I know of one I believe for sure. The bending of light around a large object in space.... Einstein was ridiculed for it for almost twenty years before he proved it if I remember right.

      The world as a whole would look much different if there hadn't been Christianity, better or worse I can't say without a doubt but for all it's faults the church and religion as a whole has done a lot to better society. Religion as a whole has tought compassion towards your fellow man if nothing else. The first charities, hospitals, schools and hospices were all run by religious groups.
