we can no longer afford a free press.  Let's toss it out the window and have Cheney, Scalia & Thomas issue all the news.  That's the only fair thing.
The idea that somebody might be wrong or do something illegal just hurts our heads too much, we can't figure out anything for ourselves, or for that matter tie our own shoes without the nanny, we don't deserve democracy, because we're such a bunch of FUCKING WUSSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bind the NeoCons and Administer Beer Until They Loosen Up!!

It's missing something.  One problem is that a few of them already have far too much beer, and are already so loose their fucking brains are rattling around inside their skulls.

They once regulated radio for "equal time".  After the regualtion was lifted Rush Limbaugh came on to the scene.  20 years later "Air America" responded  (too many jokes to be inserted here).  They scream and cry about Fox News and Drudge Report.  They can't spoon feed us their tripe anymorer

Republicans don't want any outlet of information "regulated".  If they did we would go bact to the "good ole days" of Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather deciding what we should see and hear and which documents were not bogus.

The TIME mag cover of OJ Simpson...

Nice how the right wing switches support for doctored photos according to their hate and racism.

follow the link fore the full details.

The falsehood of the Jenin escapades is being repeated here in Lebanon. With staged photo-ops meant to amplify the innocent victims and distort the truth, once again the "journalists" are complicit in the spreading of Arab propaganda and lies.
The Jenin massacre of 176 civilians turned out to be a single civilian death among 15 terrorists killed. Some of these terrorists were shown as corpses in two and three different locations. Where was the acknowledgement of the world to that lie after proclaiming Israel the new Nazi regime?
The "Houla Massacre" of 40 innocent civilians turned out to be the death of a single missile launching Hizbullah terrorist who got caught in the bombing. The Lebanese PM himself acknowledged the erroneous information. does anyone say anything? Of course not.
Even Qana is turning out to have heen largely a product of Hizbullah and Arab propaganda. Those 58 civilians? Well let's see... five hours after the bombing, there were no reports of children killed in the bombing, but all of a sudden, three hours later, there we have "fresh photographs" of children amongst the rubble. the same child being shown in two different locations as a fresh victim of israeli atrocity.
Now once again we have biased reporters providing the Arabs with an outlet for their lies and propaganda. At least Reuters is doung the right thing and quickly acknowledging the removal of this propagandist.
Will there be any retraction or correction of the fatcs as they actually are? Doubtful.

Oh and by the way, the reason the casualty lists are so disparate might have something to do with the bomb shelters Israel built for its people.

or all you have is allegations and counter-allegations.

The Reuters photo showed the altered (not Doc-tored) and original photos.

The smoke is a lot thicker.  So if you're an intelligence analyst, it might be significant, in which case you'd see the phony anyway.

So for anybody else, what does the photo tell us?  That parts of the city were on fire?  Does anybody contest that? Is that a big surprise?

For myself, I would be surprised if kids were not killed, because it would be the 1st war I'm aware of that was so sanitary.  Likewise the cliche about truth being the 1st casualty - not so much because everybody gests excited (they do) but because reliable information is pretty hard to come by in a combat zone.

So personally, I discount any sort of contested or unusual allegation until corroborated.   As for anybody else, if they're going to get excited without documentation, then exaggeration isn't going to change it or dissuade them.

Bullshit is one of the easiest things in the world to come by, as we all remember from the Liberty incident.

Your implication that Reuters unfair with this incident isn't supported by the facts.  First of all, news services kill stories and photos all the time as new information becomes available and updates arte issued. In this case, Reuters re-issued the accurate photo and dumped the freelance photographer and all of his work from their photo archives.  How else should they have handled it once the unethical photo editing came to light?

The Left works to take away the Second Amendment.
The Right works to take away the Fourth Amendment.
They both work to gut the Tenth Amendment (which most apathetic Americans don't understand anyway)
When the apathetic, brainwashed masses discover they have become 'SUBJECTS' rather than Citizens they will have no possible recourse against the phantom government that has been pulling the strings all along.

If you noticed? Many of the precepts once vehemently held by the Right are now embraced by the Left.
The precepts once vehemently held by the Left…You get the picture

that we are all racist along with his hatred of us, that planted this false memory.

His assumption is probably based on his ONE Republican friend who actually is a racist.

Xaio, You are correct in your memory and the picture was indeed doctored by the left.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Jenin_2002

The UN says 22 civilians of 52 (mas o menos) Palestinians.   See how easy it is to get corroboration?

As for Houla, et al., there is sure a lot of shit on the www.   Boring as I am, I immediately discard anything that includes hysterical prose as probably incurably biased.

Yet at the same time, I recognize that's my own cultural bias, and hysteria doesn't necessarily mean a reporter is wrong, only that they're hysterical.  That's just the way I bet, because I dislike hysteria.  Just my experience, you know?

A really clever fellow trying to get over on me might deliberately understate reports, so to gain credibility.  It could happen.

I will admit I'm more likely to believe BBC than Al-jazeera or any US source.  Why?  Because they don't worry about Britney Spears' tits, and that makes them seem disinterested, and hence more serious to me.

Are they?   Fuck no - how could any country that produced Prince Charles and John Cleese be serious?  they're just more eccentric.

I kinda remember Time putting out an explanation that some quality control check was missed in the print run and the photo was "darkened" several shades beyond what it would have appeared if the photographic reproduction had run true to it's original shading. Or something  similar.

Not racism, that other great human failing -- incompetence?
