I'll be fair---remark taken outta context as he was referring to choices of private health insurance individuals have & they could "fire" insurance companies they are unhappy with.
However, many of his GOP rivals ( who sound like populist Dems ) are attacking Mitt as a heartless corporate raider/hatchet man with Bain Capital, responsible for thousands of people losing their jobs. Gingrich even has 27 minute documentary airing in SC slamming Mitt's tenure with Bain.
Sounds like Newt's GOP rivals are an advance team for the DNC/Obama.
The clip of him saying he "likes to fire people" unintentionally reinforces that image & will be edited to devastating effect by Mitt's GOP rivals & Obama.

The Democrats are giggling themselves sick of Romney giving them the most perfect soundbite imaginable. And since Romney did an ad against Obama taking him out of context while quoting John McCain ("if we talk about the economy we're going to lose"), Romney won't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to the "out of context" complaint.
