... when people use the word "Nazi" as a means of social control outside of instances in which the ADL approves of its use; its usefulness as a tool for controlling speech becomes diluted.

Basically, when "Nazi" is used to describe X or Y or Z; pretty soon nobody gives a fuck if you call them a Nazi because we're all Nazis.

Then, when the ADL wants to defame someone by calling him a Nazi, it has no meaning.

That's the ADLs objection.

He says: "I was of course ad-libbing and should not have chosen that word, but I was angry at the time because of NPR's willingness to censor Juan Williams for not being liberal enough."

Now why is he really so angry? Does he have a personal relationship with the guy? And, how many weeks have gone by since the incident?

No, it's all for show, and to demonize NPR. I've seen Ailes on several round-tables on the Sunday news magazines, and it seems he nearly always says something outrageous, and then apologizes or walks it back somehow. It's his way of giving a wink and a node to those who want to do demonize those he wants demonized.

Ailes used the word Nazi to describe NPR. He did not use in that specific instance in reference to Soros, or anything Jewish related. So is the word restricted in its use in describing a certain time, situation or group. Did I miss a sensitivity class?

Nazi, what are you doing? You would be hard-pressed to call them anything worse, plus it has a political nuance to it.

I have to agree with you though. I'm not certain why he had to apologize to the ADL for doing so. They weren't the only people who suffered under the Nazi's.

wants the word and label Nazi to be restricted to Germany's treatment of the Jews during the war. It then becomes the single one word to decribe and define the holocaust. Which by the way is dying out. Almost all of the high ranking Germany associated with the holocaust are dead and most of the jewish survivors are fast disapearing. Soon all that will be left will be the words and Nazi will be one of the main ones.

When you hear the word Nazi what do you automatically think. Whatever it is, it's all bad. Now the Nazi party and moveement did in fact do a few good things in the early days. There never mentioned. The same is true for Hamas today.

"Likudist," or "Sharon-like" or Ailes would be out on his ass soon enough, as his master Ruoert Murdoch is ever-attentive to the whims  sensitivities of his mastters in Tel Aviv.

Glenn Beck also used the N-word  recently in reference to this same group; boy, just wait until his ratings start to slip.
