There are so many factors that cause the economy to move that no one can understand the vast dynamics.  We just came off an explosive boon that couldn’t go on forever so naturally it had to turn down at some point in time. This country experienced the worst inflation and stagflation during Carter’s presidency.  However, what happened during the Carter years began long before Carter took office.  The depression of the 1930’s was blamed on Hoover but again the seeds of that economic disaster were sown long before Hoover became president.
