I gotta admit, I hope this GOP primary drags out for as long as possible. The longer it goes, the worse shape the GOP will be in.

However, I want you guys to consider something. How in the hell is Newt Gingrich still in this race?

One can answer that question with a single name: Sheldon Adelson.

As I'm sure some here are aware, Adelson is a very wealthy guy. He's the 8th richest guy in America. He's a self-made man too.

But what I would like to know, is why is it that ONE GUY, someone who isn't even a big wig in Washington or party politics, gets to decide who the candidates are in the GOP.

Do you, as a citizen, have that power? Does anyone you know personally have that power?

We are supposed to live in a nation where it's one person, one vote. The People are the ones who are supposed to have the power to pick who their representatives will be. Not Adelson or the Koch Bros. Not Buffett or Bill Gates. Not the Waltons or George Soros.

It's one thing to reward someone for what they produce. It's quite another to allow wealth to become so concentrated, that it can buy a coup d'etat.

Consider, during the Clinton administration, a single guy, Richard Mellon Schaife was able to direct what was dubbed a "vast right wing conspiracy". Now, regardless of how you felt about the impeachment of Clinton, it was incredibly unpopular, but instead lawmakers took their marching orders from a single guy, solely because he had the power to give those marching orders.

This effects everything and everyone in our society. It's the reason why a 10 year white collar crime wave took place on Wall Street, and no one has been prosecuted for it. It's why a Presidential candidate who is twice as rich as Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, Obama, and both Bushes combined only pays 14% of his income in taxes. It's the reason why when a health care reform is passed, the law requires everyone to give their pound of flesh to a for-profit corporation who's goals are to not treat you if you get sick. It's the reason why oil companies are given the green light to drill deep into oceans, even after the Gulf of Mexico is turned into a deep fat fryer.

This country was the first to put a man on the moon. Now we don't even have a shuttle to bring astronauts back from space. We used to lead the world with engineering marvels like the Hudson Dam and the Golden Gate bridge. Now the NYC subway looks like a sewer. We used to have the strongest industries in the world, today China is beating us.

It's one thing to get as rich as you can before you die. It's quite another to be a party to treason.

This is the country we now live in. And as long as money is deemed the same as speech, while in reality it means the concentration of power, then this country will continue to falter.

Old news is old. Money backing politics has been around for ages. Roman senators being backed by wealthy patrons in the old Empire, etc.

Obama is going to raise a billion dollars.  And the libs are crying about the influence of money.

Yesterday, in one day alone, Obama, Michele, and Biden raised over $5,000,000, and the Dems are crying about a rich guy backing Newt.

Soros gave millions.  But if someone gives to the other side, the libs cry.

Do you want a list of billionaires who back Obama.  Start in Hollywood and work east and north from there.

And then, don't forget the money unions pour in. Especially public service employee unions who can get millions from members in dues that may not support what the individual member wants, but it all goes to one side of the aisle.

And then they give a few million to legislators in CA and get the best deals in the world, like the prison guards.  They have an annual convention in Hawai'i and invite legislators as "speakers," and the speakers bring their family and get put up in the best suites and all meals complimentary as part of the speakers' fees.

I was also surprised at how easily Obama has been raising campaign funds. It seems that Obama's backers are truly against the prospect of any Republican nominee reaching the White House.
