I WANNA PUKE.......

EDWARDS WIFE: NO RIOTS IF WE WIN

The wife of Dem vice presidential hopeful John Edwards said on Sunday there will be no riots around the election -- if Kerry/Edwards wins!

C-SPAN cameras captured spouse Elizabeth Edwards making the startling comments to a supporter during a Kerry Campaign Town Hall Meeting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Supporter: Kerry's going to take PA.

Liz Edwards: I know that.

Supporter: I'm just worried there's going to be riots afterwards.

Liz Edwards: Uh.....well...not if we win.

So, how does she answer the concern?

Aren't you afraid of violence during or after this election?  I've never been so apprehensive about that.

I believe the Republicans distinguished themselves with the well-coordinated "pin-stripe riot."  I remembered at the time Rush's previous "shoot to kill" declaration about anybody who riots.

At least you could count on Democrats not being armed.  That's always why we make better targets.

in an amazingly candid although unintended light.  Just as Zin I am sad to say your comment shows.  Now, to me in reading your comment, you say that democrats make better targets since y'all don't have guns.  (never mind that of my democratic friends about half own guns while I own none - product of being a Texan I suppose).  Anyway I digress, you apparently want to view yourself as a martyr, why else such a comment?

Oh and by the way, please educate me on what the 'pin-stripe riot' was.  I did a quick google search & all I could find that wasn't baseball related was some article on the Democrats rioting back at their '68 convention.  What are you refering to?  Oh, and no links to unreliable sources like Jason Blair type publications either.

Thanks.

Man are you the little partisan poster these days.

The '68 riots are anyone who was alive then knows were not "Democrats rioting", but antiwar protesters who were accused of rioting by Mayor Daly(a dem) while protesting at the Dem convention.  It seems pretty clear now that Chicago Cops started the fracas and then hit anything that moved.  The protesters also had some elements spoiling for a fight(a lot of vets and rowdy college students) so a battle of sorts was joined.

Never heard the pin-stripe reference on this one tho'

and say "of course there won't be any rioting". It is indeed telling that the wife of one of the candidates chose to reply the way she did, implying that there will be rioting if hubby loses. What does she know??

As wife of the candidate, Everything.

I do think there will be rioting, but only if Kerry loses.

And who will be doing the rioting, and why??? Based on Dem history, it will be poor blacks. Whipped into a frenzy over ginned up "disenfranchisement" charges. Joe Lockhart is sowing the seeds for it now.

This is the cynical manipulation of the white eletist running the DNC. The Lockhart/McCauliffe cabal will unleash it's victa-zombies if they don't get their way. This is how Dems train them to think.

(as an aside, it is heartbreaking to see how deeply ingrained into their psyche the notion that "the whole deck is stacked against them" is. IMO, "IT" is the single biggest barrier to success for that community)

Of course, it will be the blacks themselves that go to jail. While McCaliffe/Lockhart remain "above the fray".

Fightin fer em'.

PS, Rush gives me a headache so I don't listen to him. If he said what you attribute to him, a pox on him.

Please tell me that you're finding the most liberal wing is buying them, please!

No, I don't view myself as a martyr.  I just hope the democrats don't roll over dead again if the Bushes steal another election.  When I made that statement, I was referring to my party's futile lack of passion.

The pinstripe riot, also known as the Brooks Brothers Riot.  It happened when some well-dressed goons stormed the canvassing board in Miami to stop the vote recount.  I remember seeing this on television, and remarking at the time, "At least when liberals riot, they don't keep and bear arms."

(I prefer to call it "pinstripe riot" so as not to infringe of Brooks Brothers' trademark.)

It's effect on the "selection" results were profound.  Here's an account:

"The Brooks Brothers Riot – carried live on CNN and other networks – marked a turning point in the recount battle. At the time, Bush clung to a lead that had dwindled to several hundred votes and Gore was pressing for recounts. The riot in Miami and the prospects of spreading violence were among the arguments later cited by defenders of the 5-to-4 U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Dec. 12, 2000, that stopped a statewide Florida recount and handed Bush the presidency."

Otherwise, it's being honest.  "Not if we win," was a bit hopeful for her.  I'm afraid either way, this may be the most violent election in US history.  I hope not.

For the African Americans I've met, the deck *is* stacked against them, and the Democratic party doesn't have to do any persuading about that.
