The Times writes that Judge Schiltz has gotten increasingly frustrated with ICE ignoring court orders. "Since then, in increasingly sharp opinions, Judge Schiltz, 65, has flashed growing frustration and anger with the Trump administration, emerging as an unexpected new critic of the administration’s tactics in court.
“The court’s patience has run out,” he wrote in an order on Monday, demanding that Todd Lyons, the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, appear in his courtroom to explain why scores of people arrested by immigration agents have been held without an opportunity to challenge their detentions. On Wednesday, he backed off that threat after one migrant at the heart of the standoff was released, as he had previously ordered. But he attached to his order a list of 96 court orders that he said ICE has violated across 74 cases. “This list should give pause to anyone — no matter his or her political beliefs — who cares about the rule of law,” he wrote, assessing that ICE has most likely violated more court orders in January alone than “some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.” Now the Trump Administration is calling him an activist judge. Trouble is he clerked for Scalia. Meanwhile, Tom Homan caved,
ICE has most likely violated more court orders in January alone than “some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.” Now the Trump Administration is calling him an activist judge. Trouble is he clerked for Scalia. Meanwhile, Tom Homan caved,
"Homan said the plan to pull out federal agents depends on cooperation from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. Homan said he wants federal agents to have "access to undocumented immigrants who are in state prisons and county jails. The Minnesota Department of Corrections has claimed all along that they already honor ICE detainer requests despite previous claims to the contrary made by other members of the Trump administration. An ICE official acknowledged this cooperation with state prisons earlier this month." So, they got the cooperation that they came for... ""I didn't come to Minnesota for photo-ops and headlines," he said, in a comment seemingly pointed at Bovino, whose presence on social media and the streets have contributed to public outrage over Customs and Border Protection's tactics." Way to kick Bovino while he is down. The man is probably already going to jail for this... That was an unnecessary jab. Just petty AF!
As your post makes clear, "An ICE official acknowledged this cooperation with state prisons earlier this month." Also, I don't think Bovino is "going to jail for this." I despise the guy, but the head of a law enforcement unit is almost never criminally responsible for the behavior of a rogue element of his force. He wasn't even on the scene. PS: I don't like Homan either. Remember, he has been accused taking a $50K cash bribe contained in a paper fast food bag. Naturally, Trump's "Justice" Dept. dropped the investigation.
I was just quoting the article that YOU posted! A point which I believe Mr. Charisma was upset about earlier in this forum. He said in summary, if MN had just given up their prisoners, then none of this would have happened. Bovino may not have been on the scene, but he BRAGGED about giving the orders. As Homan eluded to, I've never seen a person hungrier for the camera than, well, Erika Kirk. They're gonna need a scapegoat for the sheep. Bovino is gonna be it. Then he'll write a tell-all book, and we'll all ignore him for being an idiot, just like the rest of the Trump officials and lawyers who didn't get out soon enough.
But just remind me who "Mr. Charisma" is? As for Bovino, did he give anyone orders to shoot protesters? If not, then I say he walks. And now for today's grammar lesson, proving I can correct friends as well as ones who are not: "elude" means to escape or evade. "allude" means to hint, suggest, imply, insinuate or mention. I believe you meant the latter.
But you and liberal media keeps ignoring the fact what sanctuary cities and states have done to create all this chaos. They ignore the ICE detainers and let the people go. So now ICE, DHS, etc... are conducting searches with warrants. So they have to go and do surveillance on known locations, past locations, places or work or past work, family members, friends, etc. which leads to the other arrests or the "non violent" illegals. So the "by catch" is happening. If those states would have complied the 75% of this shit wouldn't be happening. The only reason why states/cities are doing this is to say "fuck trump".... Not the best interest of the people. It could have been more of a "silent* operation....but those states and cities made it not be. Facts lots of people ignore. Now conspiracy theorists are saying these state are doing this because of the up coming census and are afraid to lose seats in Congress. They need the higher population to gain seats and voters. Since it is being "pointed out" that Republicans need to win less swing states to win the electoral college compared to Democrats. Again that is the conspiracy theorists saying this.
That is vastly different than involvement with the Dept of Corrections. It's a simple equation for MN leadership. Illegal immigrants in our prison system can't vote and it costs $$$ to keep them. Illegal immigrants in the population can vote and can do it multiple times. Why wouldn't they be happy to get rid of the ones that are of no value to them?
That last reply just automatically happened. All I know is that I'm waking up from my mid-day nap, getting ready for the weekend. It sounds like it's gonna be a fun one. I'm walking in like the Hamilton song, "So what did I miss..." Correct. Mr. Charisma is crsm27. He sometimes gets worked up and types crazy, but at least he looks at issues from multiple vantage points, for the most part. "Allude" versus "Elude" is like "affect" versus "effect". I ALWAYS get them messed up. I appreciate your correction. But it does make me want to throw a "Black Book" at you. Love, Katie
