Is this forum a free for all? Yes, and we like it that way. But that doesn’t mean certain members here can just spam without regard to the continuity of conversations.

The last time I contacted admin about something to do with this board the response I got was much different from what they are saying today. The response I got was short and simple
"We are no longer moderating this board"
I certainly hope whatever they decided to do regarding this board they are at least uniform and even handed in enforcing whichever rules they decide to actually enforce.
I think they are doing “some” moderating of the Board because occasionally I’ll post and get the “submitted, your post will be up shortly” message. I think there are keywords that might trigger review, but I’m not sure.
One would hope that they be even handed. At this point I’ll settle for the two spammers hopefully self-policing. If they don’t, then I don’t begrudge sanction being meted out.

And I agree. This is TER's sandbox and they can hand out punishment as they see fit. It should be even handed and for minor infractions like spamming, a warning should be given. If you ignore the warning, tough on you. lol
I recall once they gave me a stern "talking to" over something I posted. I told them to fuck off. They gave me 30 days. When I used the classic "EC" description in my next reply, they made it 90 days. I'm sure no one missed me.

It's not surprising that someone making forty posts a day on this board alone would encounter it more than the rest of us, but it does happen to ALL of us.
I am all for self policing, but I only see one of the two even willing to admit that he has engaged in bad behavior, we have asked the other poster to control himself for YEARS, all to no avail.
One would hope that Admin will be even handed, I will confess new management does seem to be rather fair minded and even handed, so I will give them the BOD unless and until they prove me wrong.
spammer and that is "bimpa." Rarely are his posts readable. Even less frequently is there any substance to them.
Have heard a few mention Laffy, in jest. But I read almost every one of Laffy's posts and while they can be inflammatory and filled with hyperbole, Laffy's posts are nothing like bimpa's. Laffy's posts, almost always express a tangible opinion. Have learned to filter out the hyperbole, but have a feeling there is some history to Laffy's insults as I experienced my fair share as well.
But the end result is the same.
Many good threads get buried very quickly with all the OP's. While Laffy may not technically spam as much as bimba, his screaming, outrageously angry, yelling, ad hominem laced rants are MUCH more annoying than bimba.
I am asking for both to stop. I have asked repeatedly and nicely. I am NOT big on punishment and editing free speech, but if one goes into the penalty box for a time, so should the other.
It seems like the board is pretty much in agreement that those two, by a WIDE margin, are the problem here.
history, but have seen Laffy get ganged up on. Makes sense he speak up for himself. Could I have missed something. I do not see Laffy's posts as a problem, other than the hyperbole. But if today and the last couple of months are any indication, it has been flying in both directions rather steadily.
Plus, at least Laffy comes right out and directs his posts to whoever deserves it. Not to mention, the content of Laffy's posts are always factual (unless on occasion there is a human error-which we all make from time to time) and include helpful information.
Can't help but wonder if those who incorrectly attempt to label Laffy's post as spam, have an ulterior motive, like maybe, they have an opposing political slant.
Laffy - most posts are cogent and informative! And, honest. Like it or nots they try to move issues at hand to left.
Bimba - all posts read like word soup and stink and look like sewer! None of them are honest ... what I have read and I have to admit I have stopped reading.
by other members of TER on this Board, more reads of individual posts, and more actual, robust discussion. There is very little reason to do an OP now as the spammers will knock it off the first page in a few hours before any discussion is generated.
Consistency is also a mystery. I had my post about excessive force moderated for several hours yesterday while about ten one sentence posts from one of the spammers sailed through to the Board. WTF?

Agreed. We are making some breakthroughs with a few olive branches lately so keeping the threads from flying off the first page would be a GREAT addition.

Excellent points. It’s very frustrating to see conversations cut short or disappear because of the spamming. Not exactly my suggestion, as the Admin initiated a written warning against Bimpa. I think the other spammer is beginning to realize there is an unspoken warning hanging over him too.
Before there were two of them you could have a post go into random moderation and still be part of the conversation, but with TWO of them by the time a post comes out of queue the thread has already been relegated to the second page.
In a weak defense of spammer number two, I think, and of course I could be wrong, he just wanted to get spammer number one a taste of his own medicine, and I hope the message was received. Spammer number one not only spams the board with OP's that only he is interested in, until recently the first page was littered with threads in which he was the ONLY person posting, but he constantly tries to interject himself into EVERY conversation, especially the few threads where some civil conversation between people of opposite sides of aisle is occurring, He is acting EXACTLY like the rioters and looters who are hijacking peaceful protests by people who have no interest in burning down their own communities, all he really wants is for people to pay attention to him and only him.
I would just like to quote from TER’s posted guidelines regarding postings on TER Discussion Boards:
“Insults, personal attacks, name calling or intimidation have no place in civil discussions and are not welcome on TER. Ever” Please note that it does not exclude the Politics and Religion Board even though it technically is unmoderated. The ongoing rantings and constant attacks of a few have driven a number of people away which is very unfortunate.
and there seems to be near unanimous agreement here that it would be a move in the right direction. Only one person seems to be opposed to it, and hopefully the TER Admin sees that clearly.
but let's see how it plays out and although I know "don't feed the troll" is very hard to do. Let's just try not to let any actual discussions that get started here end up getting hijacked by our versions of either ANTIFA or the KKK.

As far as TER's guidelines go, if they ever enforced them, we would have very few posts. While I choose NOT to insult, just as I filter out the opinion portion of any news media segment, I will also filter out the hyperbole and only focus on the facts.

Anyone who has ever hurled an insult on this board (virtual hand raise-as I AM guilty) has either perpetuated the continuation of more hurled insults or actually could be responsible for beginning them in the first place.
Reserving my insults for only the most extreme cases of continued insults hurled in my direction, from now on.

Must respectfully disagree with you, if you are labelling Laffy's posts as spam. An intelligent person like you, must have recognized that the insults almost always, fly in both directions. After stripping out the profanity of Laffy's posts, it must also be clear to you he contributes a lot to any discussion at hand.
Now bimpa, on the other hand, IS definitely a spammer and in a category all his own. Not sure how any objective person could compare him with Laffy, on any logical basis.

As far as denying that Laffy is one of the top two spammers on the board? The numbers don’t lie. Prior to bimpa’s counter spamming operation, it was demonstratably obvious that he spammed OPs.
And his reply/comment history might even be worse. Clear majority are rote answers, no matter what the topic :: (insert insult) (You lie) (insert slur)(If Obama did that you would be so pissed)(closing insult)(you hypocrite).
That type of reply indicates intellectual laziness. The frequency of those replies indicates boredom. Two characteristics of the classic discussion forum spammer.
His tendency to follow “rivals” onto other boards solely to continue an insult thread from this board is another indicator that he’s a certified spammer.
I'm not deny Laffy has the ability to produce quality content, but he hasn’t shown he has the mental discipline to do that on a consistent enough basis to shed his spammer tag.
Now, I don’t think you have insulted me lately (but who the hell knows with all the spam on the Board) but I want you to make 1253 posts over the next 30 days, and let’s see if I label you Spammer No. 3. (Spoiler alert- I will!). It does not matter if all 1253 of your posts say “Trump is bad,” or mention some other news headline-the effect is the same: you knock the posts made by everyone else off the first page.
TER has provided the perfect tool for annoying content – the Ignore Button. TER has not provided a tool to deal with the two spammers.
Ironically, you are one of the biggest victims of the spam. You take time to make lengthy, thoughtful posts but often get little response – because the spammers knock you down the board in hours after you post. Let’s see how much longer it takes before you reach the same conclusion I have- why bother?
With respect to your frequent comments that Spammer No 1’s posts are “hyperbole,” I would suggest that you review the definition of this word and see if you think that is accurate. Hateful, ugly insults aimed at Jack, GaGambler, and CK in almost every post are not “hyperbole” – he means it. Or you could ask him. Maybe he will say – “nah, I don’t really mean it-GaGambler is a fine fellow.” If he say this- I stand corrected.
Finally, why are you so down on poor Bimba? Don’t you see what he is doing? He is teaching Spammer No 1 a lesson by outspamming him! Yay. Go Bimba. The Board was almost free of Spammer No. 1 this morning.

He was able to stay on topic a year ago when all of the political news was about Russian collusion, Trump treason, Impeachment and the like, but once the terrain started shifting to expose the criminal conduct of the Obama administration, FBI and Deep State, he can't seem to keep a coherent thought in his head. I have continued to throw him a bone now and then so he gets his daily dose of rabid trump-bashing and name-calling, but I think the days of any sense of reasonableness on his part are behind him, mostly because the deep state is being exposed and in the next few months, the part that Biden played in the illegal activities will be fully known by the public, torpedoing any thoughts he had of being prez. (Like he had a chance anyway with his failing mind - lol)
