Duh, what a revelation: those who choose, of their own volition, to live abroad also support more collaboration with their host countries. Poll Europeans living in the US and I'll betcha they tend to lean more toward pro-US policies for their home countries.
What I find ironic is that those living abroad support a candidate that is decidedly anti-globalist. Sorry to break it to the rich, young partygoers in Paris, but if Kerry stops outsourcing and starts trade barriers, say goodbye to the global economy and your McDonalds on the Champs-Ellysee.
More annoyingly, are you really suggesting that those who don't travel are "clueless"? And they accuse Bush/Cheney as being smug, know-better-than-you snobs!

I have day-to-day activities with quite a few Europeans who either live here, or spend extended time here ...
They all feel we Americans are highly misinformed, and they blame our media for offering more propaganda than real news.
Your stipulation that the Europeans here are more pro-American in their thoughts is so NOT SO!
By the way, I am assuming your definition of Pro-American is of course = Pro-Bush. The world population loves and respects the people of the U.S.
By Europe, I mean Uk, Germany, France, and Italy.

No, actually, I don't assume pro-America=pro Bush. Most of my European friends who live here in the US hate Bush. They care deeply about US-Europe relations, in part because their lifestyle depends on it. However, their compatriots back at home have been anti-US far before W came into power. At a minimum, they place US-Europe relations pretty far down their priority list (lets just say it falls below appeasing domestic Arab terrorists in their town).
I always laugh at my British and Italian friends who make fun of our uninformed people and our terrible media (which I wholehearted agree is a huge problem here). They seem to forget that more people in England get their news from the Page 2 tabloids rather than the Times. Once again, the very visible minority doesn't represent the stay-at-home majority.
Cart before the horse, dude! We can see by the action of supporting Bush and his policies that those who do are clueless- or at least ignorant of the true world situation. The action leads to the call.
Before I knew Bush, I thought he was an all right dude. Now I see his complete balls up of an admin, I now know that to follow him is a sign of some sort of incapacity for thought. To advocate his rule agressively seems to border on the mental illness side!
I personally HATE being ASHAMED of my president! At least with Nixon there were ACCOMPLISHMENTS!
And I really liked his father, supported him as the last non-wacko Christo dominated GOPer. And have a lot of respect for Jeb. But the best part of W ran down barb's leg!

We didn't send airliners as bombs and attack civilians. We sent foreign aid all over the planet. We feed the world because we grow more food than anyone else. When there is a disaster anywhere in the world who sends people, aid and help? We do, dumbass. We are not the problem. I can't understand how you can live in this country and hate it so much. I couldn't stand bill clintons policies so I went out and worked for someone else's campaign. I didn't start to hate my country. If terrorism doesn't strike you as a priority feel free to vote for Kerry, Its not a primary focus for him. Me I'll vote for the guys who want to keep the war on terrorists an away game.If that makes other countries nervous, good. Let them hate so long as they fear the consequences of their actions.
Perhaps you are a tad addled. I love this country. I always have. I just would like to see us fulfil our promise to be a beacon of light in the world. And perhaps you were unaware that as a % of GDP, we are NEAR THE BOTTOM of the aid givers? And yet we consume something near 60% of the resources. So your big soft touch USA is actually and rightly seen as a miser and a baby huey from the outside.
And since I have yet to hear about all the arrests made of IRA and ETA supporters, I find your claim that a "WAR on Terror" exists to be a bit pathetic.
It's time for all of us to get more involved with the world and not just to suck it dry of resources while we offer the occasional succor for disasters. If we were pulling our weight, a lot of those problems might have been snuffed out before they got started.
From your tone, i'd say you are reaping what you have sown- come over to the other side and we can change the dynamic.

Oh my God, heaven forbid you question our glorious leader... that must mean you HATE AMERICA!
The article, and especially Sully's text, were about being against Shrub, dillweed. It can sometimes take a PATRIOT to go against the grain and point out that our "leaders" are going in the wrong direction. For me to point out that this is not tantamount to "hating America" is just below being worth my time.
Spare us the jingoistic nationalism. I would guess almost EVERY one of us one here is super freakin grateful to be an American, but part of being an American means not having to bow down and keep silent.
Ron Kovic used to say "Love it or leave it", too...funny how maturing makes you see more than one side of things.
