I'll bet dollars to donuts that a similar study, conducted among people age 30 or older would have the exact opposite results.

I blush now when I admit that I identified myself as a liberal when I was young. Then I grew up and got smart.

A while ago I posted a link on 4th grade literacy rates across the nation, and then looked at how those states voted in the '08 election. Not that literacy rates determine intelligence, but I gotta think it counts for something.

Everyone knows that these so called "intelligence
studies" are highly unreliable. I 'd put this up with the study that people are born with a "genetic predisposition" to be conservative.

There are morons on both sides of the political spectrum; the quintessential example of a conservative moron is George W Bush; the quintessential example of a liberal moron is Nancy Pelosi.

Study Finds Liberals Smarter Than Conservatives


The Add Health study shows that the mean IQ of adolescents who identify themselves as "very liberal" is 106, compared with a mean IQ of 95 for those calling themselves "very conservative." The Add Health study is huge — more than 20,000 kids — and this difference is highly statistically significant.

More-intelligent people are more likely to say they are liberal.

Kids with higher intelligence scores were more likely to grow into adults who vote for Liberal Democrats, even after the researchers controlled for socioeconomics.

They don't want to appear smart.  Its all starting to make sense now.

Not too many holes in the theory.  Of course, predicating it on the habits and psychological make up of people that died before writing or any form of record making existed makes the theory rather bullet proof.  Yes, we know exactly how smart cave men acted.

Of course, the risk takers are never conservative, which is why so many raving liberal built huge new business, crossing the nation with railroads, smelting the steel for the rails, standardizing the quality of oil, and 1,000,000 other business decisions.

Only smart people rely on studies for their self worth.

Suppose, dumb people can't read so, they cannot depend on studies. They depend purely on misguided theory and believe it to be true. Someone says, it is in the Bible, they believe it completely, someone says it is in the constitution, don't ask any questions.

What does that indicate?

Whenever the dumb right uses "neuro-linguistic programming" against the smart people afraid of the "neuro-linguistic programming" — I hate it when that happens.   We loose so many intelligent intellectuals that way.

The most literate and educated group in the world is nuns.  The number of degrees outside of theology is astounding.  I know several nuns, and they have masters and PhD's in literature, art history, nursing, computers, and a dozen other areas.  Some have multiple degrees.

The next most educated groups are priests.  You should look at the required classes in seminaries.    Multiple languages, literature, and scores of other subjects outside of theology.

They have fewer electives than schools like Harvard and Yale, and there are no classes that are filler classes that you can just coast through.

In any event, as someone who has a JD and an Ll.M. in constitutional law, I can assure you that liberals are just as likelyt to spout the constitution in a superficial manner as conservatives.  In fact, since the political activism on the right is only a couple years old, the left has been spouting its version of con law for a much longer time.

Their population is also among the most heavily armed.  Intelligence = gun ownership.  Stupid = a well written op-ed piece.

Multiple degrees doesn't mean, they have the ability to think critically, isolate facts from fiction and arrive at a conclusion. Their chosen profession proves that they are incapable of critical thinking. It is easy to leave it up to God.

I would also put JD's and Ll.M in the same category, especially  Common Law legal system where the objective is to create doubts.

I am the first one to admit that university degrees are not the be-all and end-all.  But the degrees they have are in fields that do demonstarte some degree of critical thinking.

These are degrees from secular universities in non-religious subjects, where they are writing disertations reviewed by secular panels. They must be able to articulate ideas well enough to be beyond the stage of parroting ideas.

Many then go on to "second" professions that they engage in while still being nuns and priests, teaching at colleges, running schools and hospitals, and other fields.

You assume their primary profession is proof of not being capable of critical thinking, when their second careers prove that is not true.

If you saw these people in the second career, knew of their second degrees, and didn't know their "other" life, you would assume they are very capable of critical thinking and were very smart.  

But when you hear what they believe, it all goes out the window.
