As far as the Bible being based on fear; yep, it is. If one doesn't believe in God what's the problem? However, if one does, then there is a lot to fear from God. The first book, is Genesis; all about how God created everything. One can debate whether he really did it in seven days, or through evolution, and that includes man. So, God is the creator, and we are the created. That's a very substantial power differential, and we are on the short end of that stick. But, once again, if one doesn't believe in God it's a mute issue. If one does, s/he he takes the Old Testament God quite seriously, thought the New Testament God, through Jesus Christ gives us a much more manageable means to live in the Spirit of God. And, even then not all believers do so, nor do they know for certain if they are doing so. Many think they'll get into heaven, and many who look at their lives, and have doubts, will make it.  Once again; a mystery of faith.  

P.S. Talking about having faith in one's propeller, it's even more so when talking about your rotors. Helicopter fall like a stone where as, at least you can usually glide to a landing in an airplane.  

I have had some profound spiritual awakenings on my journey and I am still confused.  To me it is a change in perception that allows me to see the miracles, protection and love surrounding me.  It is a "letting go" of control.  And it has always been about forgiveness of others, and even myself for allowing others to betray me.  Boundaries is always my lesson, and it gets easier with the more love and respect I have for myself, and acknowledging that I am deserving of peace and love in my life.  It is my God-given right for being born and being here.  It's a falling away of prejudices and hate.  And fear is the big one, of failing.  And it's uncomfortable to sit with that thought so I will do things to distract myself from the anxiety.  And not to sound too preachy, but in defense of Christians.  Alot of my Christian friends escaped the pitfalls I fell in addiction and divorce.  But yes, the hyper religious are reflecting back to themselves, the judgement and hate they feel.  Especially toward gays, they can't help who they love.  I heard a preacher do an analogy of God comparing Forest Gump to his unconditional love for Jenny.  That no matter how far Jenny ran, how much she didn't want him around.  He always loved her, and even made her the"bride" in the end.  Have a great night.  And I will check out the book

with only two basic fears.  The fear of loud noises (that triggers most into fight or flight) and the fear of falling.  If you decide to do the inner work of overcoming fears, you might be surprised to find that all other fears were learned.  It could have been a young parent, that taught guilt and shame to their young.  It could have been the fear of lacking, from over-hearing parents discuss money problems.
