I have watched president after president seemingly fail to recognize what I think is an enormous opportunity right under our noses.
    We do a relatively poor job, other than looking for cheap labor, of coordinating our economy with our northern and southern neighbors throughout the Americas.  I do not think that I have seen any president during my adult life make it a point to attend and participate strongly in OAS (Organization of American States) meetings.
    We should press hard to form an American Union where we will hold ourselve accountable for making it work and hold our southern and northern neighbors accountable as well.  I have yet to see immigrants from south of us, or those from north of us attempt to harm us.  Working with them to help them balance their economic and social policies will, in my opinion, help solve the problem of illegal immigration simply because the incentive for people to leave lands and cultures which they are familiar with will be taken away.
