Before the D-Days landings,  Eisenhower wrote a letter accepting blame for the invasion in case it failed.  Eisenhower wrote:  "Our landings in the Cherbourg-Havre area have failed to gain a satisfactory foothold and I have withdrawn the troops. My decision to attack at this time and place was based upon the best information available. The troops, the air and the Navy did all that Bravery and devotion to duty could do. If any blame or fault attaches to the attempt it is mine alone."

Can you imagine Trump taking the blame for ANYTHING?  The Wall Street Journal described Trump best:
"The Buck Stops Everywhere Else."

Let's look back at Obama, Can you see him taking the blame for a plan gone wrong? Or to keep this fair, GW before him, or Bill Clinton before him? The thought of ANY of them penning such a letter is beyond laughable.

Just a point of clarification, DDE was NOT the POTUS when he wrote that letter, Generals tend to have more balls than politicians, this would be a lot more fair of a comparison if FDR was the one who had written that letter.

Righties rarely admit when they're wrong.  Let's see if GaG can come back with some instances when Republican presidents admitted their mistakes.

You are the one who fucked up the entire premise of your thread by quoting a "General" and not a "POTUS" as DDE didn't make that statement as POTUS, DDE didn't become POTUS for another 8 years after making that statement. FDR was POTUS at the time.

If you are going to accuse me of something, accuse me of something I actually said, or go back to exchanging lies with the likes of Jake, Laffy and everyone else on this board who can't seem to be able to read and comprehend the written word.

This is the subject line of your post:

"Can you imagine ANY modern day POTUS taking the blame for anything?"  Anything means anything - those were YOUR OWN PARAMETERS.  NGBE gave you five examples of Obama apologizing for various things.  Is he or is he not a modern-day POTUS (when he wasn't busy being a Tribal Leader)?

Now we have to be careful of this.  i'm with you that what the written words are is what they are.  But then we have Jinx who can write whatever he wants, and we are supposed to somehow infer what he meant.  Now GAG it seems to me clearly meant anything in the context of wars - but he did say (as we have both pointed out) just "anything".

Either we are wrong here on GAG, or Jinx is FOS.

I made a general, non partisan statement about politicians in general and modern day POTUS's in particular and was only guilty of speaking in broad generalities like so many of us do. Leave it to the rabid left to pounce on my words while ignoring the blatant lies by their lefty brethren like LTM&L and Jinxie who don't just paint with a broad brush like I was guilty of, but who completely make shit up in order to "prove" their argument and leave it to us to figure out which parts are true and which parts are complete fiction.

If my concession leads to a single lefty conceding that Jinxie is FOS "constantly" I will consider it a fair trade.

As for you, I'll trade a concession about Jinx for Taffy whom, as you know, I called out for his most blatant lie near the top of the page.  So you'll have to settle for that.
As for FG, he's right in this case.  But he's still a horse's ass.

Obama did give a couple of weak ass acknowledgements that can technically be called "taking the blame". If you read them closely I am sure you will agree that they come nowhere near the letter penned by "GENERAL" Eisenhower, but if you want to claim victory that you "got me" go right ahead. You got me, or rather NGBE did. Are you happy now?

I should have used this one re the oil spill.  I knew Obama had taken responsibility for it, but got the link wrong. And I take full responsibility for that.  ;)
