Riddle me this: if the markets and the election move in lock step, why didn't the current record levels get Trump re-elected? The answer? Just 55% of Americans own stock compared to 67% in 2000. And most of them don't own individual stocks but funds, and only in small amounts. The richest 10% of Americans own 84% of the value of all traded stocks. So if RepubliCunts torpedo the stock market by hamstringing the Fed it won't sway many votes. They simply don't like an independent Fed and want the means to control it. Which is stupid, because the Fed's actions played a huge role in the economy not tanking despite the inadequate actions of Congress.
