I simply think religion is silly and there is very, very, very, very, very little chance of there being a god. Quite frankly, I don't know, IMO no one else does either.

I just plain don't fucking know how the universe was created, etc. The idea of an all knowing, all powerful God that expects human beings to worship it is ludicrous IMO, so I guess if there is a god, I will be going you in that same lake of fire, but I am not going to stay up at night worrying about it.lol

To claim knowledge about something with no supporting facts is almost as arrogant as claiming some invisible man runs the universe. What's wrong with admitting that absent any proof from either side, we just don't know? I don't need some invisible deity looking over my shoulder to be a good person. I am not a good person so I can get into heaven, and the whole concept is rather ridiculous, about as plausible as the tooth fairy or the Easter Bunny.

A god is just a conceptual entity that is worshiped by someone. Since there are plenty of people worshiping God, and gods, there is a God. You may not accept their various conceptions, and you can not find God, but that doesn't mean s/he it doesn't exist. You just haven't accepted their conceptualization of God, nor found any physical evidence of his, her, its, being.

You, can say that there are no extraterrestrial beings, since no one can find any proof that any exist, but that doesn't make it so. Of course, thanks to Star Wars, Star Trek, etc., we have plenty of conceptualizations of such extraterrestrial beings. ;)

Oh, and you could say that to the extent one person worships his or herself, s/he makes his or herself into a god, though a very limited and fallible one.

You are not an atheist but you say there is very little chance of there being a god? If a god shows up you don't want it to be pissed at you huh? I guess you can still be saved from the lake of fire. I otoh am beyond saving.

I will sing "welcome to the hotel California" for that.   Never believed it and never will.   There is no such thing with that three letter word.

Religious institutions are money making outfits who mesmerize people in to believing in what they think and say.

an opinion
Yes, it is my opinion that Zeus, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, The Invisible Pink Unicorn (Her Name Be Praised!) and giant flying teapots between the orbits of Mars and the Earth do not exist! Oh and that God guy? The same for him!

Why? No evidence for any of them! None! Nada! Zero! Zilch!

Don't say that before a Tea Party activist.   They are trying to take your country back to the day when Joseph and Mary found their bundle of joy!

that I or anyone else gives a flip about what you think....

Believe what you want, I don't care. My only ask is if someone states something like it is an absolute fact, they are preapred to prove it.

Sorry but it is not up to me to prove anything.

You propose entity X exists. I ask for evidence for such entity. No evidence is presented (or worse, proposer grows indignant at the suggestion that the existence of entity X needs evidence). Ergo there no reason to suppose entity X exists.

Ball's in your court.

I did not say God exists....

I say I BELIEVE GOT EXISTS...

Since it is a personal belief and not stated as a fact, no need to back it up.
Based on your response, I see you can not back up your argument as well....

Check and Mate
Thus endeth the lesson.

And I say "where's the evidence?" And this the usual response I get. Why? Because you got nothing. If you did you'd be all over it. This "personal belief not a fact" is just a figleaf to hide behind.

Again it's not up to me to provide any evidence against. You've abdicated the field.

I tell you I "believe" something, nothing to prove there.

You can ask me why I believe, fair enough, I have no evidence. But then again, that is why it is called faith.

You say "I do not believe there is a God". Fair enough. It is your personal opinion.

You say "There is no God". Then you have to prove it.

WAIT, I GET IT. YOU DON'T KNOW OPINION FROM FACT!!!! YOU MUST VOTE DEMOCRAT!!

Nope I just ask for evidence. But no evidence, no reason to suppose it exists.  It's really quite that simple. Got some evidence? I'm a bit more pragmatic.

while we are all entitled to our opinion or belief, I choose to disagree with those of you who say God doesn't exist. Simply put, I can't prove that He does exist and none of you can prove that He doesn't. My belief lies within me and my heart and I feel His presence in my life every day as do many, many other people.
For the sake of argument, let's say that I'm wrong and God doesn't exist. What have I lost in trying to be a good Christian and attempting to treat others as I would like to be treated? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I'll leave this earth with a clear conscience knowing that I've lived a good life and attempted to make a positive impact. But if God does exist, ( and I know He does), and there is an afterlife, my eternal reward will be spent with God and those whom I've loved who've gone on ahead of me.
For those of you who do not believe in God, eternity is a long, long time to be wrong. I would urge you all to consider God's existance not only with your mind but with your heart as well. If you're curious enough, join a Bible study or speak to a pastor. There are many things that on the surface don't make any sense when you're talking about the Bible and the existance of God. I take comfort in the 37th chapter of Job when God tells Job in a nutshell that all God "is" is too much for Job's human mind to fathom or comprehend. Therefore, when bad things happen in this world, I don't dwell on what I can't change and instead pray for those in need. Someday it'll all make sense and believe me, I have lots of questions when I meet Him face to face.
God bless you all!

Sorry I don't. I don't have evidence for any number of other things but I don't go about believing they exist either. The "no evidence" part is a pruning process, something to reduce the number of superfluous entitys that crowd one's life.

There isn't any evidence for any of the non-Christian gods either. Do you suppose they exist also? Why or why not?
