Most of them will behave in professional manner if you don't, but some of them won't, particularly if wifey is not putting out! Just kidding. All that to say, I would not follow the woman's example of how she talk to the officer. I couldn't hear too well, but there were a lot of beeps when she was talking.

I live and work in a great county.  Our officers are the best in the state!  We also have the best school systems and our county is in a boom and recovering from the economy crash that affected all those real estate, banking and investments.  We have much growth with commercial and residential.  Our taxes are reasonable.

Our police officers will come help no matter the causes; locked out of car, out of gas, flat tire, willingly keep and eye on property while out of town.  The good guys.  We vote a Sherriff in successfully that holds a high standard in their work.  They notify parents in advance of cracking down due to increase in accidents.  They are fair.

This kind of stuff can only be changed locally.  We have to hold them accountable to high standard.

Cops naturally are intolerant of Lip and Backtalk and Disrespect... but this guy's trigger point is sensitive beyond all reason.  She showed the tiniest microscopic level of frustration with him.

I think they were beeping out personal info (where she lived) and again, later, they beeped out the cop reading her personal info (age? DoB? Height? License #? Address?) so the guys at the other end could run her license. One of the answers was "expired in 1997" but who knows if that was a license, an outstanding parking ticket from 20 years ago, or something else ....

The cop's action seemed like overkill to me. I didn't see anything belligerent or uncooperative in the woman's actions.  I think that there should be an expectation of normal "What? Who me? What did I do?" from an innocent person (as well as guilty person pretending to be innocent).

There's a great series of videos online showing police Use of Force training, including local media types going through scenarios.  Police training can and should always improve in quality and quantity, and police will always need to weed out the sadists etc who can be attracted to a job allowing use of force, or the jumpy and scared, or those with poor decision making skills, and even occasionally some racists .  Body cameras are one great accountability idea.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjNL9HzfdX0  

But why is the BEST video online helping people understand how to behave with the cops a Chris Rock comedy short?  As a BLM activist who went thru a training said, after gaining appreciation for the unique problems police face, we need this Compliance Training for civilians badly. The government should fund PSA's teaching people how to comply with cops.  By example, the tragedy that happened with Philandro Castille might have been avoided if the Latino officer had better training, but clearly video shows the cop though Mr. Castille was reaching for a gun, and reasonably so.   It DEFINATELY would have been avoided if Mr. Castille, who clearly acted in good faith and was a tragic victim, had been more knowledgeable about the details of Proper Compliance.  He was polite, he informed the cop he had a gun, he meant well, all good, but then he reached without permission or warning to a place the cop couldn't see. "I have a gun" and reaching to your back pocket might alarm anyone, but Police, with their training specifically aimed at such threats, will react even more strongly.  

We need a two pronged approach to reducing problems with police encounters.  The Chris Rock Rules are a good start but clearly insufficient.
