No doubt, Bush is feeling subconsciously guilty about the 900+ Americans he's gotten killed, and the 5000+ more he's gotten maimed without any good reason in Iraq. Not to mention the ~ 3000 more that got killed by Al Qaida under his watch on 9/11.
Bill Clinton said it best during his speech at the DNC: you can have the economic program that gave you the best 8 years that you're ever going to see in your lifetime, or you can have all the wealth and power concentrated by the megalomaniacal few. Remember those guys, because they haven't been happy since we got rid of the caste system in Europe. Remember Ken Starr, who spent $44 million of your tax dollars and proved little more than a real estate transaction in Arkansas took place in the late '80s.
I said it earlier this week, but I'll say it every five seconds if I have to: 100 years from now, W will be remembered as the worst President in American history.
A friend of mine, a fellow TER brother and a guy who I have genuine affection for, wrote me earlier this week comparing Clinton unfavorably to W. I wrote him back, reminding him that he hobbying a lot less since W took office. I remember when he was spending $1500 a week on the hobby when the evil Slick Willie was Prez.
There is some good news, though: even if W is able to steal a second election, John Ashcroft appears to be history.
A lot can happen in a Century. And Americans are none too bright in large groups. He's a stiff, of that there is little doubt, but worst in History is pushing it for pure Hyperbole.
He really only has to be the worst in the last 10 years for his removal to be a good thing, and he has that covered.

His incompetence and lack of respect for the American public, no, the entire world, and his admins self centered focus on war at any cost has rocketed him to the award of worst in history IMO.
If in 100 years there is someone else placed into the office of POTUS that makes them worse than the current bonehead I hope I am not around to witness it.
I still hope I will awaken some day and the past 3 years will all have been a bad dream.
