Forget about Harris for a moment. Let’s go back to 2020 when the Democrats last held an open primary. Think of all the Democrats who ran for the nomination.
Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Tulsi Gabbard, Elizabeth Warren, Michael Bloomberg, Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttplug, Tom Steyer, Deval Patrick, Michael Bennet, Andrew Yang, John Delaney, Cory Booker, Marianne Williamson, Julian Castro, Kamala Harris, Steve Bullock, Joe Sestak, Wayne Messam, Beto O’Rourke, Tim Ryan, Bill de Blasio, Kirsten Gilibrand, Seth Moulton, Jay Inslee, John Hickenlooper, Mike Gravel, Eric Swalwell.
The 2020 Primary was the first time a national audience were introduced to candidates like Andrew Yank and Pete Buttplug. Think of how many candidates we would know about today if Biden had simply done the right thing and announce in early 2023 or late 2022 that he wouldn’t be running for re-election.
Democrats missed a golden opportunity to have a rare open primary where new up in coming candidates could have entered the national stage. And Democrat voters were denied that. Shouldn’t that make you furious?
