...bombed the Boston Marathon so they could experiment with confining people in one place while pretending to search for the suspect.  It worked well so now they can tell the alien mother ship to fire the death ray and destroy an entire city or country whenever they want by creating a false threat.  Maybe they'll start with Iran.
