Comey came across as honest, forthright and competent as a witness. Some of his testimony was little weird, i.e. He was stunned by what Trump was saying to him and didn't stand up to him. But I view that as a function of the sheer awkward position he was in upon realizing that the POTUS was a complete nut job and was cornering him to do something unlawful.
The misguided effort by the right to paint him as a disgruntled employee just doesn't have much weight and is a very weak argument. But so what if he was. That just underscores how stupid and horribly Trump did in handling all this. Every employer knows that it is the disgruntled employee that comes back to bite you in the ass.
