Why are some board conservatives so sensitive & obtuse ?
Posted by Priapus53  , 12/19/2010 7:30:15 AM

Jeez------criticize ONE of their own & they go mangina ! I HAVE criticized Dems in past here---namely, the senile crook Charlie Wrangel who was just censured ( he shares that in common with the hero of the idiot right, Joe McCarthy ).I've also criticized Chris Matthews in the past, mein, as being "bipolar". Btw, mein, are you pointing to your lunch in that picture in your thread ?-- Another thing, when I said Bachmann was "chanelling" was being tongue in cheek-------( altho, with her wide-eyed lobotomized stare, looks like she's channelling---LOL )---Mein, you becoming as obtuse as Quad ?------LOL !

Lastly, to the right wing idiots who worship Joe Mccarthy, keep in mind his witch hunting methods widely reviled by many conservatives at the time, including Ike. Mccarthy was an alcoholic who died of cirrhosis of the liver at 48.

Addenda : Mein leaves out fact that Joseph McCarthy was an opportunistic & paranoid liar, as evidenced by link below :

Mein, onto other topic we can finally agree on----my top 6 Kurosawa films : Drunken Angel, Rashomon, 7 Samurai, Yojimbo, High & Low & Ran.

Happy hobbying holidays !

I'm tempted to label Rjai/Liorr & his bff Quadseasonal as the TER board "retards", but that would be a disservice to the many fine folks afflicted with Down's syndrome.

How can you be sure he thinks of ladies? I couldn't help but notice he throws alternative lifestyle innuendo at posters much more than a normal straight person would, even in jest. I'm not knocking him for not coming out, or what he does or doesn't do for fun, but I wouldn't take a chance on insulting  him, insinuating he see's ladies, just "in case" he might be offended.

BTW I wasn't accusing you of being Gay. I was accusing you of throwing gay innuendo's out more than a normal straight guy. Normal being the Key word. I have no idea if you like men or women in the privacy of your home. I don't care. I doubt you are gay. You seem too miserable to be Gay, but I wouldn't bet either way. Some kind of mutant would be my guess. The way you respond  to some providers on the boards I don't see evidence of your respect for women. Perhaps you can only feel self inspired love.
For someone who advises on reading comprehension, a lot of words go over your head.

I Find These Truths to be Self-Evident...

1. The US Constitution opens with the words "We the People of the United States", not "We the States" nor "We the corporations".

2. No matter how much money a corporation has, it is never enough.

3. There is no problem on Earth that was not created or made significantly worse by the wealthy.

4. "politics is the shadow cast on society by big business."

5. Conservatives like to attack the helpless because it makes them feel powerful.

6. Conservatives are obsessed with stealing the wealth of the poor and working class.

7. You can not eliminate something by creating a black market for it.

8. No matter how much it's explained to them, conservatives will not understand that tax cuts don't pay for themselves.

9. Profit is a word used to hide the crime of theft.

10. Children need to be protected and nurtured.

11. The more you tax rich people the less you have to tax everyone else.

12. Corporate welfare is more costly than human welfare.

13. Sometimes violence is necessary to promote justice.

14. The people who say that government can't do anything right don't actually know what government does.

15. The difference between a chattle slave and a wage slave is that one is owned, the other is rented.

16. "Altruism" should be redefined as "human nature".

17. Any institution that has any amount of power is a threat to liberty. Government's threat to liberty is equally proporational to the strength of the democratic process.

18. "Pro-Life" people want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. They want government regulation on vaginas. They believe in this because they hate, and want to control women.

19. "He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither".

20. Stockholders don't generally feel very accountable to the stakeholders.

21. Tax cuts tend to create economic bubbles that crash the economy.

22. If people were motivated primarily by self interest, then we'd all be dead.

23. Build a fire for a man, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

24. Any nation is always 3 meals away from revolution.

25. Capitalists have a core belief that it's OK to take from one person, even by force if necessary, in order to reward themselves.

26. A needy man is not a free man.

27. Wealth equals power. And you cannot be free if anyone has a concentration of power.

I loved how Mein could reference Alger Hiss as a justification of McCarthyism. I wonder when Mein is going to stand up and get in line for a loyalty pledge to Barack Obama.

Of course, there's always those lovely Venona papers, that indicate that those government bureaucrats over at the KGB actually worked for a living. Of course, you can't really blame them for it. Ever since Khrushchev stupidly said, "We will bury you", it was openly admitting to the CIA that the Soviets were scared shitless of us.

I wonder if Mein ever read Nixon's enemies list or the Pentagon Papers?

"But your post is a fine example of a conglomerate of personal attacks against me"

Not at all Mein. I find your freak out sessions rather endearing.

"I referenced the VENONA papers as demonstration as to the correctness of many of McCarthy's assertions."

What, his assertion that anyone he didn't like politically was a communist? Do you think that it's remotely possible that millions of Americans at the time were indeed communists because they believed it to be a superior form of government and had no connections at all to the Soviet Union?

"Moynihan wrote, 'Belief in the guilt or innocence of Alger Hiss became a defining issue in American intellectual life. Parts of the American government had conclusive evidence of his guilt, but they never told.'

Ah, our great friend Daniel Patrick Moynihan. The same guy who conspired with Greenspan to bankrupt Social Security? The same Moynihan, who as our UN ambassador, sought to block the UN from preventing the worse genocide on a per capita basis since the Holocaust, a genocide the US was responsible for in East Timor?

"That would seem to justify McCarthy, wouldn't it?"

I would think so Mein. Just as I am sure that the government has information that conclusively states that terrorists are some kind of a threat. Are you ready to take a loyalty oath to Barack Obama that you're not a terrorist?

"In other words, the code-break was made possible largely due to a bunch of lazy, fuck bureaucrats at the KGB."

Mein, I suggest you check out something called The Conet Project. Do a search for it on google and You Tube.

"What does Nixon's list or the Pentagon Papers have to do with McCarthy?"

What was the difference between Nixon's Enemies List and McCarthism?

4 facts have damned McCarthy in history :

1. He falsely accused many individuals in the government & armed services of being communists with paranoid & opportunistic "witch hunting" tactics.

2. He was vilified by many Republicans ( including Pres. Eisenhower ) for his tactics.

3. Just like Charlie Wrangel in the house, he was justifiedly censured in the Senate by his peers.

4. He was a raging alcoholic who died of cirrhosis of the liver at age 48 .

As Phil stated above, there was nothing wrong with being an anti-Communist in the 50's; Stalin & Mao were the worst mass murdering butchers of the 20th century. However, McCarthy's buffoonery
tainted & set back the cause for many years.

'Nuff said.

"So, are you trying to reduce McCarthy's Senate hearings to the level of a personal vendetta on McCarthy's part against political opponents?"

Absolutely. That is precisely why he went after the US military, accusing them of communist infiltration.

"I did. There is no connection whatsoever between the two."

I didn't say there was. Go to YT and listen to it. It's a collection of recordings of secret transmissions by governments to their spies. What simularities do you find among all these recordings?

"Nixon's list was directed at covertly naming persons OUTSIDE of government...McCarthy's investigation was overtly conducted as it's goals the uncovering of individuals working INSIDE the government"

And this is why McCarthy targeted newspapers and journalists, as well as Hollywood?

"Does that fact have ANY bearing on the veracity of what he wrote about VENONA?  I don't think so."

So you're saying an American politician who enabled a genocide would be too much of an angel to lie about communism?

"I'll take that "loyalty oath" that you keep referring to just as soon as that cock-sucking, crack-smoking, Kenyan, Commie interloper whips out his real, long-form birth certificate.  Til then, it's no dice!"

That's the answer I pretty much expected. Now tell me again why McCarthy was so wonderful.

McCarthy's primary concern -- communist infiltration of academia, media and government was indeed correct. He was right about nearly all of it.

There were three problems.

First, he was a couple of decades late and about $20million short. That is, by the time he decided that he was correct and to do something about it, the infiltration had progressed to the point that the power differential was in the other direction and it was HE who was a dissident against them, rather than the other way around.

Second, his methods, while possibly appropriate to some degree if undertaken from a position of strength  (i.e. a position where communist-influenced persons were only 1% of the media, academia, gov't, etc.) were childish and laughable when undertaken from a position of relative impotence when non-communists were a minority.

Third, you cannot undertake the defeat of the Masters of Deceit from an angle of direct approach where your every punch is telegraphed. They are not honorable and believe the end justifies the means. Therefore, an indirect approach (see S. Liddel Hart's "The Strategy of Indirect Approach") is necessary. You must use their own strengths and tendencies against them to create weaknesses, force them to overreach from overconfidence and lose their balance from a tiny push, etc.

Finally, it should be understood that conditions prevailing in the early and mid industrial revolution in the United States were absolutely deplorable. It was literal carnage with literally tens of thousands of people dying on the job every year and little being done about it. During this time, the seeds were sown for massive implicit acceptance of socialist ideals as a means of securing basic human dignity in a relationship between worker and employer with a vast power differential favoring employers and little or no recourse for workers.

Many of these implicit socialist/communist ideals were carried by nearly every American whose living conditions had improved since the days of disallowing child labor and the closing of debtors prisons. (Yes, at one time debtor's prisons existed in America.)

Because of this, pointing at someone and yelling "Communist!!" when the alternative in people's minds was children with missing arms had much more comedic than moral effect in many cases.

For a fictionalized account that however demonstrates a lot of what was going on, see Jack London's "The Iron Heel."

1) Greatly expanded gov't spending, for every conceivable means of getting rid of American money.

Because we all know that once something is taxed, that money disappears into a giant vortex never to return.

2) Higher taxes.

That's funny, because in 1958 the top marginal income tax was 91%. Corporate income taxes were 50%. Capital Gains were 35%. Today it's 35%, effective corporate taxation is 9%, and capital gains is 15%.

3) An increasingly unbalanced budget.

A deficit that skyrocketed under administrations who had connections to the John Birch Society. Sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy to me.

4) Wild inflation of our currency

I have yet to see hyperinflation going on. But given our economic situation inflation beats deflation any day...unless of course, if you're wealthy.

5) Gov't control over prices, wages, and materials, supposedly to combat inflation.

He must be talking about how when Dubya kept talking about expanding the war in the Middle East to pump up oil prices that his family could then profit from.

6) Greater socialistic controls over every aspect of our economy, and every activity of our daily lives.

This must explain the massive deregulation in our economy, from everything to air carriers, to banks, to home mortgages, to oil production, to coal extraction....

7) Far more concentration of power in Washington, and the practical elimination of our state lines.

I notice state lines all the time as a gun owner, and I notice them to my detriment. But there certainly has been a concentration of power...on Wall Street.

8) Federal control over our education system.

The last president who signed a major piece of legislation on education had connections to the John Birch Society.

9) A hammering into the American consciousness of the horror of modern warfare.

Because we all know the images of children from strange lands with their legs blown off should make the average American a bit randy.

10) The willingness of the American People to allow appeasement by our gov't, signaling surrender by the rest of the free world.

Or the willingness of spineless Democrats to attempt to appease the GOP, whose political leanings are indistinguishable from Mussolinian fascist corporatism?

What we should be fight for!

1) Restore the independence of the USA.

Because if there's no UN around to declare certain acts of aggression war crimes, then we can fuck with anyone we want without consequence.

2)Return to a gold-backed currency.

The same gold-backed currency that kept Americans in poverty for a generation during the Long Depression of 1873-1896, and helped to cause the Great Depression. The only purpose of such a move would be to benefit the wealthy at the expense of everyone else.

3)Reduce the size of the Federal gov't by 50%.

Sounds good. Let's start with the Pentagon and our Intelligence agencies.

4) Withdraw US troops everywhere without a Congressional declaration of war.

Sounds good to me.

5) Get gov't out of areas not authorized by the US Constitution.

Go read the 9th Amendment. Regardless, this isn't about getting rid of gov't tyranny in certain economic sectors to we can have private unaccountable tyrannies in private business in control of these sectors.
