...to do the work that they are doing ? A bakery in Minneapolis that supplies many of the food vendors for the Superbowl  had to shut down because most of their staff quit in fear of a threat of a raid from INS.  We seem to be in such a hurry to push these horrible law breakers out of America that we forget all the jobs they do that Americans won't. When Mr.Trumps hotels have no housekeeping staff & fruits & vegetables rot in the fields without anyone to pick them will that be enough ? or shall we think about the cost of labor to get American workers to do these jobs, you can forget your worries about a 15 dollar minimum wage when we have to pay far more than that just to replace the "illegal's presently doing the work, what will that do to the price of a hotel room, or to the price of fresh vegetables, or even the cost to clean your office ?  We need to get our priorities straitened out to be able to manage problems that we can do something about like our nations healthcare, an equal opportunity education system, & our countries crumbling infrastructure.

They will convert all McDonalds to blow job parlors and start watering our crops with Gatorade, (it’s got electrolytes) killing them all off.  Problem solved.

Which would you rather have, a Big Mac or a Blow Job?

I know you are supposed to be one of the "smart libs", but that was a pretty dumb statement.

In all seriousness however, the way this board is going, even average intelligence will make a person a genius on this board in a lot less than 500 years.

You have been on this board for a very long time, just like me. and I think we can agree that the board has always been combative, rational discussion has always been a rarity, the board swings alternatively left and then right,  and as your BFF has often stated, "it's mainly about "flinging poo" at each other"   That said, I don't recall the board ever being as collectively stupid as it is today.

I shudder to think that someday fg might be the smartest guy on this board. lmao

But yes my post was a reference to Idiocracy.  Thanks BPS for pointing that out to the humorless folks on this board.  The White House party at the end resembles Trump rallies from his base.

"be careful what you wish for" just may apply here.  Those pushing the deportation of illegal immigrants just may be the people who hurt the most AFTER their wish is granted.  Wonder what impact the end result will have, overall, on our economy.

Only time will tell.

If we would simply kick out all the illegals, or even make a serious dent in the number of them, there would be no need to raise the minimum wage as the market (as usual) would take care of itself, just like it's starting to do even with millions of illegals willing to work for less than their American counterparts.

Now before you get your panties all in a wad, I am an "employer" not an "employee" illegal aliens are GOOD for me as they are helping to keep labor costs down. It's the guys with jobs, especially unskilled or semi skilled workers that should be trying to send these people "back where they came from" Not to mention I also fuck a lot of chicas and Asian girls, not all of them 100% legal, so I am really a rightie who doesn't care a lot about the immigration issue.

...GaG misunderstood my point in the ...who will we find... post, the meaning of my statement was we would no longer need to be concerned with a &15.00 min. wage if all the illegal workers were kicked out of the country, because we would have to pay more than that to get American workers to do those jobs.

In fact that is EXACTLY what I just said in my post.

Come on Huck, please keep up.

Anyone on the lower end of the wage scale should be fully in support of keeping illegals out, while guys like me who are affected in the exact opposite manner should be in favor of more illegals as it keeps our labor costs down if we were all looking at this strictly in self interest.

But looking at this whole issue from a POV of "fairness" is it really fair for illegal immigrants to claim "Hey, we snuck into this country fair and square, now we have the same (if not more) rights as legal citizens"  How would you feel if you had been waiting for years, going through the proper channels and following the law to the letter, only to find out all you had to do was break the law and you would have been just fine? What a slap in the face to legal immigrants.

matter this is?  So many moving parts to one major issue and all hinging on valid points!  Yet, if we in fact followed through, enforcing the strictest letter of the law, and maybe we should, have those who stand to lose the most truly considered the impact of removing an essential component of our farming and construction industries--and our economy overall.

Do we really have American citizens who would do these menial, low paying jobs.  Probably not.  Such is the paradox we face and the reason we are having such a difficult time coming up with a fair and equitable solution for all concerned.

Back in the mid-60's, there were plenty of us palefaces baling hay. No so many in the orchards, and I can't remember seeing any, but myself, weeding onions on the Truck farms. I suspect it's would not be much different today, maybe worse.

...My appologies for not spending more of my time "keeping up" with what is going on with this board, but if you GaG believe that I support citizenship for "illegal" workers than you did in fact misunderstand. I made no mention of citizenship for "illegal" workers only that I believe there would be a large economic loss if the illegals were removed from the workforce, that's why I believe they should be offered work permits so the government can collect taxes & keep tract of how many workers are actually here & employers should bear the responcability to report thir wages to the IRS. As far as legal immagration is concerned anyone wishing to come to this country should have to show how they will be contributing to our society as part of their citizenship agreement.

if you're not for a border wall, then you are for open boarders. Of course that's not true, along with how they pretend that there is little or no vetting system for foreigners entering this country.
