I was leaning towards either Joe Leiberman or Charlie Christ, to be honest Sarah Palin never even made my radar, but I could not be happier about the pick. I think it all but locks up the election for McCain and it proves him to be a much savvier politician than Obama.

Obama blew it and McCain hit it out of the park. I couldn't be happier.

In the debate, Palin is going to bitch slap Joe Biden---with brass knuckles!!!!  She's done more in her brief life in politics than Hussein Obama and Joe Biden put together!!!!

Obama and Biden have done nothing but bad things because they always vote the lefty moron way.  They made things worse.

Let the game begin. Whack wack Whack whack.

Biden:  aaah ah---she broke my nose! Whack whack

Biden:  ahaaaah--she knocked out some of my teeth.   Whack whack

Biden:  shee broook meee jaaaaw.

It's all over but the crying for the dems.  Game over.

I like Mitt Romney, but his being a Mormon was a deal breaker for the evangelical right.  To bad, he has great credentials: successful governor, foreign affairs in the Salt lake City Olympics and business, and he has solid economic standing in being a self-made millionaire to the tune of 200+ million dollars.  he didn't marry into wealth or inherit it.

I also like Gov. Tom Ridge, but his pro-choice stance and his having been in the Bush administration was also a deal killer for too many.

I know nothing about Gov. Sarah Palin, but I intend to do my homework.

GO McCAIN!!!!!!

But I think he and his wife were totally sick of politics, and didn't want to have anything else to do with it.

I think she is a great choice.  I like both Lieberman and Romney and think there will be a place for them in the McCain administration.  Lieberman as Sec of State or Defense and Romney as Sec of Treasury or Directo of OMB.

Did I see a couple of Biden's transplants start to fall out?

I've been singing Sarah's praises for weeks now. She was my top wishful thinking pick.

I honestly expected it to be Mitt Romney. Aside from Mitt, I thought Condi Rice would be an excellent choice, but recognized she would probably hinder more than help the ticket.

Imagine my delight when McCain listened to my sage counsel :)

I have nothing against her per se, but given McCain's age, she's closer to being elevated to prez than the standard VP choice. It would be nice to see that the people of her state are overall supportive of her enough to re-elect her. Right now, its just conjecture. Even Quayle had been re-elected to the Senate once.

But most important, can Sarah Palin replace Cindy McCain as Miss Buffalo Chip?

I don't really know enough yet about the lady, but it does make for some interesting maneuvers.

I'll give McCain a point for upstaging Obama's big speech.

Does anyone have any good data as to her connection to the oil and energy industry vis a vis ANWR, Alaska energy policy, etc?

Who would I have picked?

Someone with international experience.
Someone with experience in National Government.
Someone with more than 10 years experience in any elective office.
Someone not under investigation for abuse of power.

This is going to go down as the worst pick since Doddy Bush picked Dan Q.

Couldn't agree more, Gyppo!
It kills me when people say Romney wasn't an option because it would upset the evangelical right.  What the f*ck choice would they have?!? Either vote for McCain or watch Obama win!
I am a lifelong Republican, but have become more and more moderate.  As I have, I have grown to resent the evangelical right and all they vehemently stand for.
Maybe I'm gonna burn in Hell for it, but I tend to try to hear the other side's point of view, rather than stick blindly by my ideals and drown out anything else.

It seems odd that you show up suddenly out of the worm hole repeating your claim to be a life long republican..
If you keep repeating it everyone else might  figure you are lying..

I doubt Obama will go down as worse than Carter unless he is elected President..

I thought he was a good choice until he started on his taxing the rich scheme to help the middle class.. And I really got turned off when he started his offer of a thousand dollar payment for everyone except the rich..And last night with the long list of false promises.??? I thought buying votes was illegal?
Maybe if I had graduated  past eight grade his economic plan wouldn't seem so simple minded..

I finally got internet connection out here in yosemite. i didn't want to miss out on this question.

I would've picked Kay Hutchison of Texas, but I think Big Mac made an excellent choice. Sarah is a reformer who's not your typical insider DC politician...and she's MILF hot! I've been reading up about her for almost a month now. She actually has more executive experience that ObamaNation. She's definitely the Change that we need.

Obama is now the one looking like Bush's 3rd term. Obama has been interviewing Richard Lugar to be his secretary of state. Remember Richard? He’s the one who authored a bill to enable investment banks to manipulate the prices of oil. Read more about it on the link below.
