"E-vote machines flaw could prevent any Florida recount"

another interesting article from that "liberal rag" the Los Angeles Times.  Not as prestigious a source as "Faux News", World Tribune, or N.Y. Post, but us Liberals (communists/fascists/Marxist mouthpieces)need some source.

By the way, does anybody remember that the president of Diebold, the largest producer of electronic voting machines, is the head of the Ohio Re-elect Bush campaign and has GUARENTEED
a Bush victory in Ohio?

Elsewhere where e-voting machines are used, what happens if there is a legitimate, intentional, or sabatoged blackout.  Can anyone say "disenfranchise".

One last opinion on e-voting machines:  not all machines leave a paper trail, no way to validate the machine's "results".  If Bush wins California, everyone will know something fishy happened.  I hope snowman tells us that Bush has a great chance to win California.

... glad you posted this, I was going to but didn't want to monoplize the board.

Mr. Wally Odell, the owner of Diebold, and friend and big time campaign contributor to G.W. Bush, who also said he was "committed to helping deliver Ohio's Electoral votes to GW Bush in 2004", in a letter to the Ohio Republican Party.

You do know, Diebold don't you ? You know, the Electronic voting machines many of us will be forced to use come November, the machines with no way of keeping track of votes, other than what they decide to tell us, no paper trail, no hanging chad's, no chance for whoever THEY don't want to win ...

If, in fact, the goal is to disenfranchise large blocks of the American voting public, then they should also be prepared to reap the whirlwind.

First the left complains about the voting systems, then they compalin about proposed solutions. Tell me, do you guys EVER propose solutions (something real, not just rhetoric).

Well, just keep that course and I suspect we will continue to see Republican majorities in the House/Senate/Supreme Court/White House in 2005!! Life is sweet!!

Of course several kindergarten classes across the country were able to negotiate successfully in their use.  Not to mention the racism involved in saying that Dade County Blacks and old Jews were confused and unable to successfully cast their votes.  lol

That assertion made by a conservative would have caused algore, "Hanoi John", Rev, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton et al  to shit their collective pants in angst!

Orange County, California had for years this simple punch system where you insert the ballot card and press a lever and it punches out your vote (no hanging particles, a clean, machined punch) which was then machine counted and it was absolutely fucking fool proof!  Contested elections could be hand counted if necessary.

If you made a mistake, you were issued another ballot, your mistake was destroyed in your presence.

It seems so fucking simply, so fucking cheap a system, never did anybody complain about it, never.

Last election we had this new E-vote machine and everyone was in an uproar.  Personally I didn't have any difficulty with it but many senior citizens did and I'm sure other non-seniors of all races and ethnicities did as well.

Although I find your fear of the president of Diebold, Inc. as without foundation, (every company which could be selected has a leader who has a political slant) I too dislike a system that has no failsafe, or abliity to recount.  Your fear of vote tampering has traction with me, especially since Republicans have been the victims of it thoughout the 20th century, i.e. Chicago.

I also think that people who don't take the time to read their polling information well enough to know what to expect when they arrive at the polls, most likely have spent the same amount of time considering their votes, I.E. Dade County!

I know I've given you a hard time in some of my posts, but truthfully some of the things you can say have warranted that.

However, this post of yours is very well reasoned, presented and I can tell came from your heart and mind, without any overtly political slant and/or derogatory underbelly.

I know you may care less about my opinion of you, but in an effort to bring out the BEST in people and have that show up on this board, I thought I should tell you, well done.

Side note,
My area of LA County (just NW of Paasadena), also has those same simple punch card systems, including the last election for Re-call/Arnold, and I for the life of me can't see why they should be replaced either ? Obviously for someone to get rich, I know Diebold isn't the ONLY one producing the new systems, just the largest. But if you read about all the errors the systems have, it seems like a BIG MISTAKE to implement them without some sort of Failsafe.
