Hey folks this story is tracking a LOT over on Twitter/X, and a lot of people have sympathy and admiration for Luigi Mangione, the 26 yr old Ivy League Graduate who is charged with lethally shooting in the back, The CEO of UHC Brian Thompson (father of 2 young sons).   What's even more bizarre, this young man's supposed good looks are eliciting posts from many Providers who post on Twitter, who express infatuation and lust for this young man despite his horrific (alleged) crimes....  

I must agree with the sentiment.  The fucked up system brought on this fucked up result.  The insurance industry is in part, along with the pharmaceutical industry and medical industry responsible for why our USA health care costs are triple + what other western/advanced countries pay.  In no way do I condone violence to try and fix it.  But I understand it and I understand why someone could be driven to violence because of it.  (I also had multiple back surgeries and fortunately have come out with a positive result)

I know someone who is a department head at UHC, and he said they also have a contract with the federal government to "process" Medicare claims.  Medicare has stepped up denials of coverage the last few years, but it's really UHC making the decisions.  If you appeal, which Medicare allows, it will be reviewed by Medicare directly and not UHC contractors.

This will actually be an issue. Federal workers typically have some telecommute days. We weirdly have too many federal buildings not being used (a lot for record keeping), but many federal offices just don’t have room for all the staff. Washington DC also has a horrific traffic congestion issue. Telecommuting helps with this issue. If we lose all telecommuting then there will be a severe issue commuter lot space, and office space. Quite frankly, many government office buildings ought to be demolished and replaced with new buildings. Many are leaky old buildings from the 50’s and 60’s with asbestos and all kinds of problems.

When having to fill out spreadsheet after spreadsheet, having more focus is key. Assuming you’re going to get your work done.
