As a conservative I completely sympathize with what he is saying.  Sure the Republicans have majority of both houses and the White House however, he was lamenting that the party has lost its "conservative principles."  Believe me there is a huge difference between a conservative and what you have today in the modern day republican party.  
   The modern day republican party is full of nothing more than low life corrupt, useless, political hacks, and cheap sell outs.  These are not conservatives and that is what Buchanan was trying to point out.  The republiCON party has hijacked principled conservativism, just as al-qaida has hijacked Islam!!!!!!!!!!!!
