Has our country ever seemed as polarized as it is now, both politically and socially, since 1865?

Nine of ten Bushies say going to war was right, and nine of ten Kerries say it was wrong.  That is amazing separation.  If I were a socialogist, it would be fascinating, but I can't remember in my lifetime hearing such polarization, even during Vietnem.  However, those of you more familiar with history may be able to correct me.

The most interesting thing to me is that there is so much war support among the young.  That is another fascinating tidbit sociologically, but what happened to rebelling when you are young?  Maybe if the draft was reinstated...

Being young and anti-war is just so...  60's.  It might be "hip" to be anti-war in my parents' generation, it's just not like that at all today.

Besides, my parents' generation is so liberal that it IS rebelling to be a young conservative.

I'd be surprised if a majority of that 60% could find Iraq on a map.

and please, think for yourself.  If I hear ``we should support our president, cause he's our president'' one more time - I may, like barf, all over your Prada shoes.

Feel free to let your mom Elyse join me as well!!!

APK, your comment does surprise me a bit.  Given your strong conservative leanings and how much you idolized Nixon & Reagan, I find it hard to believe you would turn your back on your current conservative prez Shrub.  You weren't around to give your support for the first Bush.  Could it be that you now have issues with the "Family Ties" involved?  ;-)

Good god man, she's just a child - And not a good looking one either (IMHO).

What are you talking about?  Jennifer's 15 years older now, just like you, Mallory, and your mom.  And she grew TITS!!!  Anyway, it's all pink on the inside, right?

That's not a nice thing to say about your sister, Alex.  But then, being a "compassionate conservative" wasn't one of your strong points.  The rest of your family can attest to that. ;-)

Yes, your right.  She will always just be my little sis to me.

Hey, as long as you respect their boundaries it's ALL GOOD.

Wrt Jennifer, I was just being honest - between us guys (please don't tell her I said that, she can kick my ass).

first discovered by the renowned sociologist Emeraldvodka.  It states that when a public puts its brains out to dry in Afghanistan, the brain actually becomes a big sponge.  And we all know that a sponge does nothihing better than absorb.
So now we have millions of sponges absorbing 2 flavors of cool-aid known as democrats and republicans.  And whenever that sponge is squeezed, out comes democratic excrement and repbulican excrement.  The democratis sponges spew out democratic cool-aid and the republican sponges spew out republican cool-aid.
Hence you have 90% on both sides thinking the other party is evil, corrupt, liars and idiots.  In this cool-aid syndrome the public totally forgets that their own party is also full of evil, corrupt, liars and idiots.  They believe only the other side has them.
The taliban didn't have schools, books, or the internet.  I wonder what the American public's excuse is?????
