There are no good outcomes, only bad endings or even worst endings.

We know you want to pull out of Iraq .. So after that what is your method of 'trying' to stop terrorist acts??  Can you answer rationally ??

but Imperialism has been historically disastrous for Imperialists. No society likes to be militarily, economically, spiritually or culturally “occupied”.
Between our long and promised loyalty to Israel and our oil concerns gobbling up their land and influencing their culture it shouldn't be difficult to see why Muslims have been getting more radical over the last 50 years.

Perhaps if a concerted effort was made to drastically reduce our need for the crude beneath their feet along with the serendipitous western influences that go with that need; the Muslims and all their radical factions could concentrate on herding goats, fighting amongst themselves, and probably trying to find a way to make nice with the west in hopes of re-establishing some sort of profitable export so that they don't ALL have to live in the stone age....again.

Is that your answer for real?? Are you rathering me or telling the truth.. First of all we will probaly have alternative fuel cars{hydrogen, anti gravity, pulse generated , etc.} long before 90% of the world... Oil will be drilled and sold for many years after we no longer use gasoline.. So you did not  answer .. The time is now not 30 or 50 or a 100 years from now...What would you do after we leave Iraq to "TRY" and stop terrorists from attacking us??

Why don't you regale us with your own insightful and sapient hypothesis for de-escalating and protecting us from terrorism?

This is off the cuff - more a series of thoughts than anything cohesive.

Acceptance - Let us establish that it is pointless to argue about whether or not we should have gone into Iraq. We did.

Accountability - The US has created a horrible mess. We must acknowledge this, and be prepared to accept the consequences of our actions.

Attitude - To simply pick and leave, leaving so much garbage for someone else to clean up, seems to be a part of the American Way. Ever seen what the beach looks like at the end of the day? Or a rock concert? It's simply in our nature to do what we want, and let others clean it up afterwards. This must change.

Acknowledgement - The first thing the United States must do is acknowledge our responsibility in this quagmire. Please note, I do not say APOLOGIZE. You do not apologize for doing what was believed to be the proper course of action.
(like i said, forget about how we got there for the moment. that's an internal US matter. Think globally, not colloquially.)

The process of stopping terrorist acts itself is long, hard and difficult. sort of like trying to shove a 9" cock into a tight virgin ass without any lube.

You must let go of any notion of changing the present, you must look to the future. The biggest reason we have such a problem with Islamists today, is because todays Islamists were yesterdays children, taught and trained from the moment of their birth to hate the Jews and Israel, the Decadent West, Imperialist US, etc. etc. Hatred is not genetically handed down, it is taught from one generation to the next. Just like Religion, which always seems to go hand in hand with Hate.

My bottom line: As long as we have religions that teach us that we are better than they are, as long as we have oppressive self-serving corruption in positions of leadership be they Political, Financial, or Dogmatic in nature, we will continue to have terrorism in all its myriad forms.

It is a shame we as a species are unable to think in terms of the Greatest Good. We have forgotten our origins; much like the children in Lord of the Flies.

My method of stopping terrorist acts would be to look at the long view of properly educating todays children absent the ritualistic dogma of exclusivity perpetuated by organized Religion.
Education has always been the key to Progress.
Educate the Children about Tolerance. Embrace our differences as two sides of the whole. Find how they mesh, not how they clash.

How's that for off the cuff?

I don't think the average Religions are the root cause of terrorism.{ Al Queeda would hate us just as much if we were all atheists}  Your post was excellent.

So basically you have run the car off the cliff to our certain death after my protestions not to do so, now handing me the wheel and proclaiming it's my fault that we all are going to die. My response? Go Cheney yourself!

All those who support, voted for and still think Bush is heckva a deal need to be frogmarched into Bagdad to act as a human shield while we get what's left of our army out of Iraq.

We must take out the 2 training camps, 2 nuke campuses and the one and only oil refinery in Iran and we must also bomb Pakistan!!! Al Quaida is moving around in Pakistan w/impunity!!!!  We must shock them by bombing them when they don't expect it.  With friends like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, who needs enemies.

I just wish George Bush would grow a pair of balls.

You can trust me, that plan would work.

If you want to put your dick in a meatgrinder be my guest. I prefer to keep mine in my pants. Unfortunately your plan puts my dick in the same grinder. Thanks alot for nothing. When you have learned how the West has fucked up in the Middle East for the last 100 years perhaps you maybe less happy to pull that trigger.

BTW I prefer my Bush naked cuffed ankle to wrist and placed in the public square to be ridiculed by all for the massive fuckup that he is.

I agree 100% with you on that geezer..President Bush IS a Good Man!!

There are no good outcomes, only bad endings or even worst endings.

There is no way to prevent terrorist attacks...ANYWHERE. Within or without.

Ask the French, the English, the Lebanese, Spaniards....

And it matters not who occupies the oval office. Each and every time a "Newbie" steps in, there is some group/faction that wants to "test" the waters.

So far, our last two "Newbies" have flunked. MHO

And to those who claim this is a war over oil. Fine. Elect the Green Party in. Perhaps their plan for a "tactical withdrawl" will include spoiling all the Iraqi wells with radioactive material. North Korea has a few extra pounds to spare now. Then they can raid Iran, Saudi, etc. and repeat the process.

Remember... the "Cold War" ended over a financial battle.

Let's be realistic about a few points, though, that are obscured by this administration to support the war on terror:

1) There is no way terrorists are going to establish a caliphate in the middle-east. There is no way Islamic Fundamentalists are going to take over the US.  Our country pushed off the threat of communism, which had absolutely more resources, tactically and strategically and in every respect than these terrorists do.  Their agenda is very obscure besides destruction, and unlike communism,  it requires divine intervention by a god named Allah.  And if he even exists, he probably has other plans.

(That is not to say that they can't be terribly destructive, and 9/11 demonstrated that.)

2) War on Terror is like a war on the Blitzkrieg.  You can't eliminate terrorism because it is a strategy, not an ideology.  You can't eliminate terror.  What you can do is keep tabs on hostile blood-thirsty organizations, like al-Qaida and hunt down their operatives.

What I suggest is: Better Intelligence, on the human level.  Get people who could speak Arabic and Farsi at first.  Work to split the civilized Moslems from the Jihadists (to do this, we do have to put resources into it, since it involves making their lives better).  And recruit some intelligence operatives.

Communication: make different intelligent and law enforcement agencies communicate important information about Jihadi enemies, and not by taking any unconstitutional measures.  We didn't attack the Constitution in defeating communism.  We don't do it now.  Treat them as a LE problem, not as a matter of conventional warfare.

Command: Well the first thing is, impeach the destructive duo we have in office.  If they had been in any way competent they would have stopped 9/11.  I am totally convinced that 9/11 would not have occurred if Bush/Cheney didn't have their minds on their pre-determined objective: to invade Iraq.

Impeachment isn't enough.  They perhaps try them for crimes against humanity, too.

Second thing is, get somebody in there who knows how to get these agencies to communicate and can coordinate intelligence.

1.. No Way is a lot like never
2.. The New PC language is "War on Terrorists"
How does law enforcement go into countries that don't allow our law enforcement to roam around and their law enforcement is corrupt.
I am sure you are convinced of a lot of things that are not facts..Before women had jobs typing experts said that women would not be able to keep up with the rigorous challenge of typing.
I heard some Democrats in Congress saying we should spend more money on the search for Bin Laden and less on Iraq.. So are they telling us we need to invade Pakistan and get Bin Laden out of the mountain cave he is hiding in?
If you keep consuming yourself with your  impeachment dreams you will never get over the two lost elections that are still tearing you up inside.

You guys never get a plan.  You just whine, whine, whine . . .

Perhaps we can answer as rationally as you ask. I surmise that by putting "tryng" in parenthises you are impling that liberals are incapable of proposing solutions that you would deem rational and successful.

In trying to stop terrorist attacks after pulling out of Iraq, we should look to our to our British brothers who have been successfully fighting and stopping terrorists for centuries. The answer may be too simple for you, but it is good, old fashioned police work. Investigations. Survelience. Dedicated task forces. All these have paid off well. They cannot stop every single terrorist attack (no one has done that), but they have done a great job and will continue to do so.

If we had really decided to stop the terrorists that attacked us instead of pursuing this bullshit invasion of Iraq, we'd be a lot more secure. Instead we are less secure. We are less able to "try" and stop terrorist attacks.
