I believe Kerry will win (if I have to bet, 286 - is that a possible configuration ?) and that it will be the new voter turnout that is the factor.

Voter turnout was over 100 million in 2000 & it should be at least 120 million tommorow....This country is more divided in any time since the Civil War; (remember I'm a uniter not a divider speech) & I cannot see how someone as hated as Bush can win another term....

The initial count will show Kerry as a clear winner.
But because of litigation in process in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and most especially Colorado, the eventual results will allow Bush to be re-annointed sometime in early Spring.

In the meantime, Bush-Cheney-Rove will arrogantly proclaim themselves the victors by a Supreme Mandate (pun intentional), will continue their path of pre-emptive policy, while at the same time securing their power base in government. There will be little Kerry or anyone else will be able to do about it, with the lack of outrage in 2000-2004 emboldening the Rovists to proclaim their supreme power... ok, that sounds like something Anne Coulter might say if she weren't a Republican whore.

I am openly stating that Kerry will win with over 95% of the vote, and praying that my predictive ability (i.e. Usama is dead) remains up to par.

I think there's two possible scenarios... one is that it'll be the close election that everyone predicts, in which case if Kerry takes Ohio (and/or Fla. - like THAT stands a chance of happening... already there's evidence of voter fraud; 68,000 absentee ballots of predominently black Fla. voters have mysteriously "disappeared") with no other surprises in the predictions, he'll win; if he doesn't, Bush retains his illegitimate occupation of the White House, and woe is us.

OR:

A large turnout of first-time voters and those who haven't voted in a LONG time occurs, motivated primarily by a huge desire to oust Bush.  In this scenario, Kerry wins by a MUCH larger margin than anyone predicted.  This is a distinct possibility, as these people are likely to have been missed by the various pollsters.

So either Bush or Kerry wins by a small margin (less than 30 electoral votes), or Kerry wins by a substantial margin (more than 65 electoral votes).

Let's hope it's the latter scenario that proves true.
