Readers added context in response to Greene's comment, culminating in a community note appearing under the original post:
"Monday's eclipse was predicted hundreds of years ago. It will not have been caused by contemporary actions.
Earthquakes occur naturally and happen (on average) more than 30 times a day, although many are too subtle to feel."

Then MTG doubled down on "science":
"Many have mocked and scoffed at this post and even put community notes.
Jesus talked about that in Luke 12:54-56.
Yes eclipses are predictable and earthquakes happen and we know when comets are passing by, however God created all of these things and uses them to be signs for those of us who believe."

The nice ladies on The View

Thought that earthquakes and eclipses were caused by climate change. A lefty Green Party candidate thought the same thing.

If You’re Going To Reference A Bible Verse,

than include that verse in your post. C’mon BigP, that’s just basic P&R Forum posting standards.

54 He said to the crowd: “When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, ‘It’s going to rain,’ and it does. 55 And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It’s going to be hot,’ and it is. 56 Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?

I believe that MTG misinterpreted the verse though. Here’s a partial summary of the analysis of those verses.

This brings us to Jesus’ charge of hypocrisy. Jesus called the crowds hypocrites because (as one commentator put it) their inability to interpret the present time was due more to an unwillingness to interpret than an inability to interpret. They displayed the ability to understand the wind, but showed an unwillingness to understand the Spirit. They displayed the ability to understand the sky, but an unwillingness to understand the heavens. They were rebuked because they are primarily focused on the physical to the neglect of the spiritual.

Here, Jesus is not pointing to physical symbols as omens of spiritual peril. What he’s saying is that if you rely on physical predictions, you should seek out spiritual ones as well.
