To do what??...Present a 600B package, down from the 1.9T Biden package, what do they expect to get out of this? Biden will give them the courtesy and meet with them but I'm not sure what they're expecting. Do Rep want to be part of this as a bipartisan package to save their skin or?It'll be nice to have them sign on but sorry, this train is leaving the station with or without republicans. Biden has already sent his "hitgirl" Kamala to WV to put the squeeze on Manchin, she'll slapped him around the way De Niro laid it to Fredo, "This is this"...
And with the republicans freaking out over the 2k being sent to SOME who make over 150k, well Biden just addressed that.
I think by next couple of week, this will be delivered and...signed

So it really all depends on how much these Republican 'moderates" are willing to come up. As for Kamala's visit to WV, it definitely pissed Manchin off because he got no advance warning, which I think was a mistake.

If Manchin pulls his support and the GOP holds firm then even with "budget reconciliation" the bill dies 49-51.

Biden has proposed a $1.9 Trillion bill FULL of pork, the GOP has countered with a $600 Billion bill without any pork at at in it. AND of course taking out the job killing $15hr Federal minimum wage out of it.  I predict Biden will negotiate away "some" of the pork in his bill and the GOP Senators will concede "some" of the pork from their side and we'll end up with a bill somewhere in the $1 Trillion to maybe the $1.2 Trillion range that will actually pass with at least some GOP support.

I think Biden is in a WEAKER position now than if Harris hadn't tried to strong arm Manchin in his own home state, a place where he is MUCH more popular than either Harris or Biden. I think they seriously misplayed this. Manchin is now arguably the most powerful Senator in the country right now as the swing vote on so many issues.

But I think you got GACloaca's ratio wrong. He gets 1 out of 1000 posts right, though not all the others are "pure stupidity." A large portion of them are blatant, easily-provable lies.

Then I'm sure Manchin will eventually HAVE to give in. The Gov knows the people.
And I'm not sure what pork is in this,  helping states and local gov to fight this pandemic is probably in the long run will do more to get this economy. The GOP had NOTHING for state and locals.
And I don't see the 15 hour fed wage increase as a big deal or job killer but lower rate is workable...I'm just whatever on that.
I'm sure they'll be some give by Biden...but there won't be much. They don't wan to do t a 2009 over again
Now I guess it's the WV Gov turn to do a little of the "This is this" to Manchin...All Manchin needs is a alittle slapping around, he'll come around.

WV is hardly "Kamala Harris territory" and don't forget Manchin was Governor of WV himself and is a Democrat that has somehow managed to get elected and then reelected in a state that is solidly red.

Joe Manchin is hardly going to get slapped around by either a Republican Governor or a Democratic Vice President. if ANYONE knows the people of WV it's Joe Manchin.

And of course you don't see a $15 hr FEDERAL min wage as a job killer, you live in LA where I remember making around a hundred grand way back in the 80's and barely getting by. What's good for LA or NYC is hardly what is good for rural America where a $15 hr wage is more than the owners of many small businesses make.

I think the $15 hr minimum wage attached to COVID relief is a stalking horse that the Dims "expect" to have to give up in order to get the good parts of the bill passed, and I would hope that we would agree that NOBODY on this board, with the possible exception of Tini or LTM, should even been considered eligible for a stimulus check this go round. Certainly not people like you and me although we would put our stimulus immediately back into the economy by getting "stimulated" by a hooker on the taxpayer (which is US of course) dime.

We can go line by line about all the pork in the bill if you would like, but I think we should be able to agree that getting money into the hands of those who need it the most, people like restaurant workers who have been fucked over the worst, should be the main priority.

interested in who will be slapping around whom (Manchin vs Harris) and don’t give a shit about what’s good for the country and on the right side of the history.

Righties could not negotiate with their own fucktard President and now they want to negotiate with real leader Biden.

I say fuck them. Manchin is a DINO - fuck him too!

He's one of the keys to the Senate. With a 50-50 split and Harris as the tie-breaker, losing Manchin means the Dems lose 50-49 or worse. And Harris never even gets to vote. Unless you can get some Republicans to step over the line, which is doubtful.

As long as people get their $1400 checks and they fully fund Covid relief..nothing else really matters to them..

If he wants to act like a Rep, then let him just switch parties if that's the way he feels, right???

I swear to fucking God, I am SO fucking happy you are on the opposite side of every issue than me. I would hate it to have someone as fucking dumb as you on my side.

You do realize that without Manchin, the GOP has a defacto majority in the Senate and as such we are looking at four years of gridlock, don't you? Now from my perspective, that's a GOOD thing, but somehow I doubt that you will find a single democrat, no matter how fucking dumb, who will agree with me.

- Cut amount of cash per adult/family:  Yes!  Focus this package on people financially hurt by the pandemic, not a cash giveaway to almost everyone
- Reduce income limit for cash per adult/couple:  See above
- $15 an hour minimum wage:  Yes, it’s a high priority for Dems, but this isn’t the time for it - belongs in a separate bill
- Unemployment benefit extension:  Republicans want to cut the amount and the time period, so there’s room to compromise on one or the other (but IMO this should be higher priority than the cash handouts to everyone)
- State/local funding:  Another high priority for Dems; maybe they could keep it in by reducing it some and giving in on other areas (see above)
- School funding:  One area I think the Dems should stay pay on, and give in elsewhere to keep it.

... and fuck you, when at it! Lol!
And, you wonder why I call you names? So full of arrogance and undermining other people’s intelligence. “Fuck Manchin” expresses how I feel about him, why there will be any change in numbers .... to your dismay he will not change party. In the long run, Dem should pri-fucking-mary him and get rid of him.

BTW, no Dems are by definition dumb! Cuz they have chosen the right side of the history.

On the other hand, Republicunts are a different story - you shits for brain believe in Q, deny reality and everything is a hoax if it doesn’t go your way! What a sign of real intelligence (not!)

Spare me the joke! There is a separate board for it.

Then shit anyone can. And that's a RED state. But keep in mind, this will be spread out over 5 years or so from what I know...it won't happen today, tomorrow or next week so in that regard I'm "whatever" on this. Businesses will adjust to the wage, especially given the time, they always do
I think Manchin lost his touch with his people and is gun shy, I really believe it. He's more worried about his seat and being challenged by a Rep. Yeah he has history with WV, but he's out of touch...I compare it to Feinstein and Calif.
Maybe sending Harris wasn't a great ideal, but I liked it but thats me. And so Manchin got his feathers ruffled, Uncle joe will soothe that over...it's what he does. By next week it'll all be forgotten
But yeah the people need help and from what I'm seeing, WV is in a hurt.
Yeah, that check is something I won't see but I know alot of people that are behind and could use it...so let's see.

I don't know if you ever answered the question asked of you a few weeks back.

"Is English your first language?"

If so, you really are a fucking moron, if not and your inability to construct a sentence that makes even the least bit of sense is because you aren't speaking in your native tongue then I owe you an apology.

Enquiring minds want to know. Blithering idiot, or ESOL??? I am betting on blithering idiot, I doubt you can compose a sentence OR a thought regardless of the language, but I am willing to give you the BOD "just in case" lol

Lastly, do you REALLY think another dim would have so much as a prayer in WV? All "primarying" Manchin would accomplish would be to guarantee that a Rep would win the seat.

High school dropouts like you have problems with well trained and pithy writing. Here is a simple sentence for you:
Go fuck your chink self! How is that for a nice friendly sentence?

And, you wonder why I generously use slur when I refer to you. I love it! And, it has nothing to do with as you sobbingly alleged: GG calls me chink to suck up to Laffy and BigP etc.

Far from it. I do it (not that I owe you an explanation) because you remind me of three annoying attributes of Chinese government. I will give you one here: China as a country does NOT play fair - steal others' IP, don't show their hands etc., don't contribute to the pool of global knowledge.

You do the same here, in a comparable microcosmic way: Don't write a review yourself (i.e., no contribution to the knowledge pool) but you use other members' reviews to analyze the reviewers, the providers, catch them on some misdoing etc. and you do this ALL the time!

Sounds pretty Chinky isn't it?

Now I will let you think about the other two bad Chinese behaviors you display even in this all anonymous fuck board ... think Chink ... think ... think ...

In regards to the Covid package, did Harris's involvement in WV provide cover for the Gov of WV to come out for the Biden package? He was quite till recently....But this really should make Manchin decision on this simple, go with it.
Hey, It's just the way I think.

It does appear that Harris got the exact opposite result that she was hoping for.

Yes, I think it has made the Manchin decision VERY easy. He represents West Virginia, NOT the wishes of Kamala Harris. If he really was on the fence about this, Harris coming to HIS state trying to make him look bad made his decision very easy indeed.

Hey Hpy, there is no shame in getting something wrong every once in a while. I'd still rather talk to you than Planet Smug and Stupid.

Just questioning the timing of the Gov coming out for the big package, that's all.
Bottom line, I don't know why he came out when he did and you don't know...I was just throwing it out there
But whatever it was, it made Manchin decision easy

Schumer said last week, they are not going to repeat their mistakes from Obama era - where they negotiated in good faith - where republicunts were just killing time in the name of doing negotiation while they fully knew they were not going to sign off anyway.

Huh!!! You hit this one RIGHT IN HEAD. Biden And Kamala need to play nice with Joe Manchin. Joe Manchin could be the next Libermann or Zell Miller who became thorn in Democratic party.

Kamala overplayed this one badly and this is not the first one that Kamala is going to fuck up-there will be many more.
I still wish that Biden would have not boxed himself on Kamala and have picked a different VP.

All people single filer earning under 50K (filing jointly under 100K) should get the stimulus or even bigger stimulus than what is proposed. Anyone filing over 100K should not get anything.

But I agree with you completely. I have no issues about the amount of the bill. It's just that if we really plan on paying all this money back someday, yeah right. I'd like to see it going to people that actually need it. Our own BobFromStateFarm has routinely bragged about how "rich" he is, yet he also bragged about getting a stimulus check, is he REALLY the kind of person we want to go another $2 TRILLION in debt for???

And please remember, as much as you hate him it was Trump who first floated the idea of a $2,000 check for people in need. I was for it then, I am still for it today even though I won't see a penny of it and most likely my taxes are going to go up to pay for it someday.

I also agree with you that Kamala Harris was a very shortsighted pick for VP,  I can't imagine her EVER keeping the White House for the Dems assuming that she is the nominee in 2024, I see it very likely that she won't even be on the ballot in '24.

Yes!!! I am in favor paying $2,000 or even $3,000 to lower than 100K earners because they needed it and the debt that we add, we have to pay back someday. So we better think about it.

I like Biden A LOT-he is the right man for the moment but I highly doubt that Kamala can maintain her poise and the mantle of the Democratic party in 2024 when her times comes in. To me Kamala is a decent politicians but very unlikable and rough on edges.

In regard to Biden being senile, I think Biden is in same shape mentally as Trump and perhaps much better and physically in good shape.

I wish Biden/Harris success because their success is USA success but I do share concern about Harris rawness and hopefully she learned on how to be politicians from Joe Biden.

Dropping the mim wage from the package, That's ok . Adjusting the stimulus check distribution was going to be looked at it so it'll be adjusted for the needy, ok. I really wasn't expecting it to hold on the 75K/150k scale at 1400. Now those were probably the sticky points for Manchin so it looks like he's happy or now "Whatever".....Now don't let me send Harris back out there....lol...kidding, relax all...lol
Biden did addressed the min wage for Fed employees and it's contractors to 15, but I'm sure most were above that rate so, I'm ok there. It's a gradual thing here.
