A peek into the conservative mind

I made a post on 4/25 directed at James86 in an attempt to solicit a reasoned response to some serious concerns.

My prodding has been in vain, and today I finally found out why James won't deign to discuss serious issues - it's because I have a genital piercing, which offends his delicate Republican sensibilities:

There are times I simply shake my head in awe and wonder at the workings of what passes for a conservative's mind.

Come on, James - pretend I don't have that disgusting Prince Albert, step up and address the concerns I voiced. It would be enlightening to see how you justify them. Unless, as previously stated, you just don't care about anything beyond lowering your tax burden at the expense of future generations and the lives of people you will never meet and are consequently disposable.

That makes the little general hurt just thinking about it.

As much as someone who is closed minded, to another's personal decision. I was recently asked to attend a tattoo convention. Having no tattoos of my own, I was briefly hesitant.

After spending two days there I finally asked a tattoo artist the reasoning behind it, as I was clearly dumbfounded when it came to permanently altering ones body. I just didn't get it.

He asked me .....What my passion in life was. I said scuba diving. Then he said well this is one of their passions in life and is a way to express themselves. Although I still wont indulge in tattoos I now understand it a little more.

It saddens me to think that someone would chose not to respond due to anthers person's decision to partake in piercing and do hope you are wrong Puck, since I consider myself conservative and not closed minded.

Well not all conservatives and liberals think along the lines of the far extremes of their position of the spectrum of political beliefs.   I haven't participated in any of the political discussion here but have on another message board and while things DID get heated, we tended to focus on the topics being discussed and the personal lives or preferences of those participating in the discussion or debate were left out since they were not pertinent to the discussion at hand.

I would think anyone would be capable of discussing issues intelligently or objectively but some let stuff interfere, like one's choice to have piercings or tatoos or whatever, and I find it best to just not engage in discussion with them since it's clear they are not able to focus on the topic at hand.

Besides, there are plenty of others here and elsewhere on the Internet who don't give a damn about your piercing, Puck, who would love to debate President Bush or whatever with you.   :)

On a side note, my brother described the Bush administration in a rather humorous way to me yesterday. He described our current situation as being like "Being There 2", the sequel to "Being There" and that we elected (or selected depending on your view) "Chauncy Gardner" (excuse the spelling) as President.   :)

Sorry if this offends Bush supporters but I thought it was kinda funny.  :)

Peace...

how the self-mutilators so want to be taken seriously, notwithstanding their poor choices.  Kinda like those in poverty as a result of their own bad choices.

Awwww, you don't like judgmentalism.  Bullshit!  You simply don't like judgmentalism which differs from your own.  At least I'm honest and upfront with mine.

Yes, since you can offer no defense or explaination of the pionts I raised you cast about for an excuse to avoid it - and settle on my pierced dick, which you perceive as a mutilation. Most of the ladies who've experienced it appreciate it, as it's both a decoration for me and an enhancement for them. But you go ahead and keep that mind closed - wouldn't want any uncomfortable ideas to get in there.

Your "pierced dick," as you so delicately put it, is simply indicative of your general foolishness, foolishness which I did not dignify with a response.  You're privileged to respond to whatever you choose.  So am I.

And I will not apologize for limiting the openness of my mind so that my brains don't fall out.

Were it that others would do the same, and stop citing that as an excuse for harboring every foolish and trendy idea that comes down the pike.  Or Puck.

Whatever.
