They are in the attached link, along with comments from the military and a photographer. I know British soldiers in Iraq have abused prisoners, the Ministry of Defence has already paid compensation to some and charges are being considered in the case of one Iraqi prisoner who died, alledgedly after severe beatings, in custody.
However, I believe these photos are fake. As soon as I saw them in the newspaper I thought they looked staged - particulary the one with the guy holding his foot against the prisoner. There's no movement, he's not kicking the prisoner.
Unfortunately, the damage has already been done. These photos will reinforce the beliefs of Muslim extremists and will alienate those who were more moderate. They are a disaster for the coalition and especially for those service men and women in Iraq who are trying to do their job with compassion and humanity.
And our own U.S. military has already determined that the abuse DID happen and was merely trying to keep it out of the media. It is also beginning to appear that it was more widespread than our U.S. Military wishes to admit at this time.
So whatever offense that the worldwide Moslem community may take about this is at least, in that sense, justified.
