Will never understand how, many of Trump's followers compare the impeachment hearings with a criminal or civil trial. They do NOT compare. This is the false equivalency, the use to say Trump's political "acquittal" is on par with a person being acquitted in a court of law.
One need not be overburdened with intelligence to see the distinct differences; they are blatant and quite obvious.
Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives and that is something that can never be reversed. His political cronies made up their minds before the Senate proceedings even began and stated so, publicly. They made it clear that they would do everything in their power to obstruct any other outcome and hide any additional evidence. In the end, they refused to remove him from office. This did NOT negate his impeachment which will be etched in U.S. history forever.
