Judge Henry Hudson, The Man Who Shot Down Obamacare

Henry Hudson was a crusading conservative prosecutor who persuaded Ed Meese that porn and violence are linked.

Hudson made headlines as a state prosecutor in Virginia with his local campaigns to crack down on porn sales and prostitution, even allowing police to entice prostitutes from across the border in D.C., so they could be prosecuted in his state.

For reasons ideological and political, Hudson found a way to satisfy his longtime friends and supporters in the GOP and declare the bill unconstitutional. Two other Courts have upheld it.

Without the public option you have to have everyone covered or there is probably no way for the rest of the great features to be funded. Most of the protections were given up in order to get the 2 Republicans votes needed in the Senate. Wile the benefits are great, its a huge win for the insurance companies with little way to control costs since most of these provisions were tossed to get the rest passed.

During the Reagan administration, when Hudson, the zealous young Republican state prosecutor in Virginia was named by the Justice Department to lead a federal commission charged with determining whether pornography led to antisocial behavior. Over the objections of respected social scientists who said that Hudson was grossly and perhaps intentionally misreading the evidence, the commission found that porn was linked to violence.

Then-Attorney General Edwin Meese, pleased by the findings of what came to be known as the Meese Commission, helped Hudson win promotion to the job of U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, making him the chief federal prosecutor for half the state. Hudson was named to the federal bench by President George W. Bush in 2002.

Other critics say that Hudson should never have agreed to hear the health-care case given his longtime investment in conservative communications firm Campaign Solutions, which did work for prominent Republican critics of the health-care bill.

You can't complain about the conservative judge who ruled against ObamaCare, without having similar questions about the propriety of the judges who have rule on gay marraige in CA.

Before people get off track, I am not discussing the issue of gay marraige, per se, but only the fact that a judge with a political track record ruled on each issue.

Politics isn't important here. In one case, this judge would benefit financially from his own decision. In California, ruling in favor of gay marriage would allow for a greater degree of liberty for all citizens, all without harming anyone.

Two different situations.  Hudson is a career hard core conservative appointed to the Federal bench by George W. Bush. Judge Walker, who ruled on the Prop. 8 case, was originally nominated by Ronald Reagan.
