Barbara Lee supporters are livid that Newsom didn’t appoint her. And she was the furthest left of the top 3 Dems running.  She’s running in third place and becoming more irrelevant by the day. A Newsom appointment would have recharged her campaign hopes.  

Butler hasn’t ruled out running, and Newsom’s clarified that there’s no promise not to run.

All she needs to do is finish Top Two. Schiff is leading with just 20% of the vote. Porter is in second with just 15%.  The lure will be too great for her to ignore, and with Lee struggling, there will be pressure and support for another Black woman (Butler) to take up the fight.
