Why are you splitting hairs? Soaring to vs soaring past in the headline. Really? The significant increase in layoffs is the story. How pedantic of you. The nitpicker of the year award is all yours.
"US layoffs soar past 1.1M in 2025, highest level since the pandemic"
.

...righties will say it's "fake news."
And to be clear, I'm assuming it's accurate because I wasn't there when they made their calculation and there's an element of trust involved. I may wonder if there's some manipulation to actually keep it at 1.7.
If I were going to respond like you guys if the shoe were on the other foot, I'd attack the messenger as in why did he use the headline from Fox when he should have also caught the word salad they chose and wrote it correctly in his post title.
Unless there is a benchmark for November layoffs of 1.1M, a more appropriately written headline should have said "us layoffs soared to over 1.1M rather than "soared past 1.1M". While "soared past" is technically accurate, it's cumbersome and it is less precise and could leave the reader trying to decide if 1.1M was actually a benchmark or what the forecast may have been. Really, if the benchmark was "soaring" when in rose to that, one could speculate momentum alone may have carried it well beyond 1.1M, not 1.1M plus 0.07. Sure seems a little anticlimactic.

He is making an example of how ALL OF THE LIBS ON HERE ACT.
But things this article fail to mention and talk about.... AI, Automation, construction slow down, auto makers re-tooling plants from EV back to gas powered, etc. Things that drive "lay offs". Notice how the telecom and tech sector is one of the bigger lay off leaders for the month. ... AI.
They want to talk numbers but never want to talk the "why".
Will these lay off be permanent.... who knows.
Maybe you should take up your many grievances with the author at Fox Business and spare us. Sometimes it's important to get the story out, in this case about the significant increase in layoffs, and then follow up with related stories about the why and what government is going to do about it. I realize you're very sensitive and emotional because this story reflects poorly on trump's economy. Touchy, touchy, touchy.
Dont know what you are talking about..... the GDP right now is standing at 3% for 2025.... that is pretty good. With a shutdown.
But yeah.... it is all DOOM AND GLOOM. The economy isn't bad at all.
telling everyone the economy was good while so many people were being hit by inflation a weak jobs market and high mortgage rates?
Trump got elected by telling everyone he was going to fix it all on Day One.
And now the same thing is happening to him.
But by all means keep whistling past the graveyard.
All the way to next November.

1. Inflation it is under control... it is at 2.92%. When he took office it was 3%. Joes 4 year average was roughly 5% ( 5%, 8%, 4%, 3%) Joe actually had it under control. The repercussions of the years it wasn't is the issue. Which takes can take DECADES to recover from if you don't cut spending. Which Joe and the Dem's were not doing.
2. The War..... Zelensky and Dem's threw a monkey wrench in that when he came over right away. You forget that Z was coming over to talk a peace deal.... Met with top dems prior to meeting with Trump... then all hell broke lose. Wonder what was discussed in that meeting. Then when other deals were being discussed and approached.... Z asks for more money, asks not to be INVESTIGATED, etc. Putin isn't off the hook either (bombed when deals were being dicussed). But yeah... .facts you fuckers want to ignore as well.
3. the ACA....This time around he didn't say he would have a health care plan to replace the ACA. Right now it has been discussed. Not during his campaign in 2024. He did in 2016... in 2024 he was saying he wanted to "fix it". We have yet to see the "fix".
I see Trump as a figure similar to the Wizard of Oz, particularly in the sense that his public persona often contrasts with the reality of his actions. I believe it's important to judge leaders by what they do rather than just their words, which can sometimes be misleading. Regarding Project 2025, I find it noteworthy that he has enacted a significant portion of its proposals, indicating a focus on policy continuity and effectiveness. During the government shutdown, he openly embraced the situation, which reflects a strategic approach to public relations and political maneuvering.
I personally support school choice because I believe in educational freedom and parental control, which resonates with many voters. I understand that this may come with trade-offs, such as higher insurance prices, but I'm willing to engage with the complexities of that decision. Many supporters, including myself, appreciate the outcomes associated with his policies, even if we are cautious about his rhetoric. I'm curious to see how these policies might evolve in the future. What do you think?
I personally feel that Black people are not shocked to see Project 2025 being implemented, as there were several clear indicators that it was Trump's blueprint. Many people pointed this out, including posts on his social media site, so it’s puzzling to see some acting surprised that he is actually following through with his plan. I think those who identify as marginalized groups are more accustomed to this "Wizard of Oz" phenomenon, where what’s presented on the surface often masks deeper realities. We’ve been sold snake oil enough times to recognize when something isn’t genuine. In line with what Maya Angelou said, we’ve learned to believe people when they show us who they truly are. This perspective shapes how I view the unfolding of his policies and the reactions to them. How do you think this impacts the broader conversation about leadership and accountability?
But this is why Trump still has my support although I'm not really MAGA. Does that make sense? I am definitely a Cheney Republican. I'm registered as independent so I cannot vote in primaries but I don't want to mislead anyone.
So, everything listed here, was outlined in the 900 pages of Project 2025. Again, why are we shocked?
because it was unpopular, only to adopt the exact same policies once in office. You don't find that disingenuous? Link below.
Also, perhaps you could explain how school choice and higher insurance costs are connected.
Thanks.
Hey BBCBigot,
You are correct. It was disingenuous. But the authors were his main advisors! Anyone who honestly believed that Project 2025 wasn't Trump's plan is simply living with rose colored glasses on. I didn't read all 900 pages but I did read the highlights. I found the plan to be acceptable for me.
Currently, we pay a fixed tax rate based on income. It doesn't matter that I am also paying A LOT for tuition for private school. If Trump makes it so that I don't have to pay for private school, then I can pay for the higher insurance premium. I vote for MY interests.
Best,
Katie
