Obama and unions...this will increase your cost to hobby and provide

The lodging industy expects this proposed legislation to increase labor costs, therefore your room rates, by 20%-30%. This will affect every single hotel in the country, whether it's a 130-room limited service or a 1500-room convention/resort property. It's expected that this will put many small franchisees out of business. Another attack on the American Dream from the left.
Barack Obama's pro-union agenda is the most ambitious in decades and has a real prospect of becoming law. His stated goal is to "strengthen the ability of workers to organize unions." The Wall Street Journal has outlined his plan below.
Under current law, union organizers and management have the opportunity to present the pros and cons of forming a union. Then a secret employee vote is held, and even though labor and management are required to bargain in good faith, they are not obliged to reach an agreement. With his Employee Free Choice Act, Obama plans to restructure the system:
He would do away with the secret ballot, making unions the sole provider of information to the employee.
The workers' decision whether to organize would no longer be private; unions would be certified to negotiate pay, benefits and work rules simply by collecting signed "union authorized cards" form a majority of employees.
Arbitration will be mandatory, and if parties can't settle a contract within 210 days, the arbitration can then impose the contract that is bound to include much of what unions demand.
Moreover:
Obama supports legislation to reverse the National Labor Relations Board's "Kentucky River" ruling which fleshed out the definition of a supervisor for the purposes of organizing; unions usually prefer a narrow definition of management, because it increases the number of people potentially under their control.
He wants to bar companies from replacing striking workers - a right that management has held from some 70 years - and supports the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act that would force state and local governments to recognize union leaders as the exclusive bargaining agent for policy, firefighters and other first responders.
He also wants to raise the minimum wage again, to $9.50 per hour by 2011, and index it for inflation.

Capitalists corrupt everything to meet their greedy needs.
Yeah, that's what Karl Marx thought. How'd that work out for the USSR and Russian Jews?
Tyranny works for no one. Communism is not the cause of tyranny, human greed is.
"communism" which you are so inclined to promote is a pipe dream concept of those who have never done anything but sit around and scratch their balls. Even an elementary analysis of the system would lead anyone with any intelligence to determine that it is a recipe for mediocrity, or worse. A study of history would also confirm that. Charlie, get a job, quit expecting your neighbors to support your indolent carcass.
Unions are just another way for the mob and others to get rich off the working man. look at the UAW, just a broken down bunch of overpaid bums that make a $10,000 car cost $30,000 .......
Long live the right to work....
If you dont like what they pay, hit the road and go somewhere else

You have made it too simple, but these dumbasses merely want something for nothing. They want Hussein Osama's "Everything for nothing" society.
Before unions people worked 12-16 hours a day everyday, Unions brought in the 40 hour week.
Before unions workers did not have health insurance, unemployment compensation, retirement benefits, or any benefits other than a sub-poverty wage.
It makes me mad to see people put down union, while enjoying the benefits made possible by the Unions.
Before labor laws seriously protected workers, unions had a valuable place in society. These days, they largely just rape the business so that they can get the workers to pay them dues.
They are being defeated or circumvented today mainly because unions are so weak.

I live in a union city, and their existence is due to weak labor laws. So I do get your point, but this is one area where I would rather have the government involved.
Anyone besides upper management should love unions. Unions have improved working conditions from the very bottom to just above the middle management-- they've done the heavy lifting for all of them.
Right to Work is phony as hell, and if this is management showing their concern for workers, those management people should be made to work on the very bottom for a month and see how they actually feel about worker rights then.
you mean a white trash alias, Unions dont work, they only suck blood from the workers and make the Union brass rich. Greyhound, Mountain Bell, several copper producers all went on strike and lost thousands of workers. They sure showed management. Just like when Reagon fires all the air controlers, all Unions will fail in todays climate.
In the Soviet Union you still had a privileged class (Communist Party members), and never achieved a real Communist Society. Greed and corruption got in the way (The same issues that plague Capitalist Society). Maybe true communism is not possible on a large scale.
brick cluster fuck. "Charlie", are you the "charlie" I spared back in 1970, the young mush headed rice burner that tried to stab me? If so, I clearly did you nor the world a favor.
Your idea of "labor" is crawling back to your well-worn, stained barstool at Willie's Bar & Tavern every morning at opening to spend your entire Socialistic Insecurity Check there, drinking away the day.
Do us all a favor and sober up, harry.
strong words from an alias.......
If you cant stand behind your statements with your own handle, who cares what you say
After all, isn't everything here fictional?
Something that hasn't been true with today's "low low prices." I also wouldn't be moved by pity to tip the maid.
The hobby has worked in Europe and Canada, it will still work here.
