'If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) '

This seems to be likely.  There is speculation that the disease has been on the west coast of the USA for six weeks.  That's only possible if most of the cases were relatively mild.  Which means the cases are under-counted.  Whereas deaths are counted 100%.   So this disease could be a lot less fatal that initial estimates.

They are hoping that come November, the US will be in recession/depression and coronavirus having wiped out 1/3rd of the population (in red states if they can help it.)

I’m a Democrat and a trader, so I’m happy it went up.  Now will it still be going up for the next few days remains to be seen.  Trump is largely viewed as totally inept on the Covid 19 epidemic and this is a weighing factor.

But you made your little dig so you get points for effort.

This is from last fall, but expresses a common liberal view ...

Comedian Bill Maher on Friday continued his calls for another economic recession, claiming it would tank President Trump's shot at reelection in 2020 and be "very worth" ending his policies.

He was joking.  You know because that’s what comedians do.  You don’t take him seriously do you?

He stated it on more than one show.  But I don't read minds.  Maybe he really wants to MAGA?

I doubt that, but he also said that trump will win if the Democrats don’t get their heads out of their asses.  I agree with him on that.

That there will be records set in all aspects of life, including finical markets.
