Re: Tonight Dateline did a nice story on the neighbor who took the 9 yr old to the event
That's good, but I didn't see it. Watching the Steelers/Jets. But I did see about 5 other broadcasts today on the news about Congresswoman Giffords.
Houston....please take care of our gal Gabby while she is in your care. This lady is very special and I hope everyone will have her in their thoughts and prayers for a speedy and great recovery.
Just think it was only 2 weeks ago tomorrow they reported she was dead.
Let's all remember her and the 6 who lost their lives due to a mentally unstable young man.
Get well soon GG!!!
Unfortunately her rehab is going to take a very long time.
with the continual news coverage of Congresswoman Giffords happenings. Yes, I'm truly sad she was shot, yes, I have empathy for her husband and family. No one should have to go through what they are experiencing. I hope she has a full, and speedy recovery. But there are 12 others that were also shot, some in serious condition still. And 6 were murdered, but do you read or hear any news about them? Not a peep. Where is Fox News with their fair and balanced coverage today?
I watched a segment on 20/20 not long ago about how race affects the news reporting. Answer me this, if Congresswoman Giffords was black, would we be seeing the same coverage as we do now?
B) the Judge was famous, but he's dead and not much else can be said about him
C) the other five who were murdered weren't famous; they had their "fifteen minutes" in the first week
D) the others who were hurt aren't famous either, and so they're ignored.
If she were black, she'd still be covered because A) she's famous and still alive.
Heck, MLK is still covered and he's been dead for years!
killed or injured to be acknowledged as much as Gifford has been.
Occasionally, I can be entirely too cynical, which was the basis of my post.
Ease up there, kiddo.
completely misunderstood what Jersey said.
He has raised a legitimate question.
Ask yourself this - how often have you seen Nancy Grace feature a poor black girl who has been the victim of some senseless crime?
maintenance guy, the grandmother who was a snow bird from Jersey, and the Judge who were killed. Some of those that were injured have been followed and interviewed too. In fact, one was arrested at the Town Hall meeting ABC did here a few days later. So YES each person, if they wanted it, has been talked about, interviewed but by the local stations. It is because us locals WANT to know them and who they are/were but does the rest of the nation really want to know....probably not.
So sorry if you think the others have not been given them same time but as it as been pointed out she is a Congress woman who was orginally said to have died. But I must correct you - Arizona stations, both Phoenix and Tucson stations have covered the others.
but I'm not. Where's the national coverage for those not famous? I want to know.
Another question for you. Do you know the names of those Americans killed in Afghanistan this past week, fighting for you? I think not. Are they not important?
didn't get to have the benefit of those interviews. The only two things I've heard, other than Gifford, is that the Judge was respected, and the little girl was born on 9/11/01. Haven't heard a word about anyone else. Oh, I've read more online, but haven't heard anything more.
And no, I'm not being sarcastic here. Or cynical. There's a site that gives thumbnails on them all. And there is more online. But, outside of AZ, it's as if these people don't exist.
And to me, that's what Jersey is lamenting.
Our famous Gov after the shoorting came on TV and made a heart rendering speach about the Congress Woman. I saw the speach. She did not say one word about the rest of the victims. I sat there and thought, "I guess that 9 year old girl didn't account for anything in the rareafied ranks of the political spectrum. After all she handn't done anything for the damn politicains.
Sorry the lady was shot, hope she recovers.
Really feel bad for the 9 year old who died. She was worth 10 Congressman and 20 Sentors.
Brewer is heartless and an idiot so am not surprised she didn't say anything. Dateline did a great show on all the victims.
And the 9 year old is living on as some of her organs have helped other children. But sadly sometimes well known people get more attention than the people who deserve the attention.
Misty, now see there, I heard nothing of that. The 9 year old's death, giving life to many others is a real story. But, sadly, things will never change in the MSM. "If it bleeds, it reads".

and here is one by ABC a little later that talks about all three donations.

Both sources are NATIONAL so sorry Jersey but this shows that there are stories nationally about other victims.
If you watched Dateline tonight they interviewed one of the other Tucson victims - the one who took the 9 year old to the event. So there you go....did you watch Jersey?

about this Giffords' shooting. Anyone who shoots at a nine-year old girl is going down. This whole coverage however, of Giffords' happenings is way too much. Good posts, buddy.
