I am not "creating" a solution to a non-existing problem. I am offering a solution to a minor problem that some people think is a major problem. You even admitted and said "republicans" are the ones who cheated. So there is a problem.....even if it is small.
People are losing faith in our election process. It isn't just republicans. Many democrats said that the past election was "stolen" and people cheated.
I mentioned things I noticed while working the at the poles that there is a need for change. I notice that it could be easy to cheat if people wanted too.
You know what it only takes to register to vote on election day in my area:
1. A registered voter from your precinct can go with you to the polling place to sign an oath confirming your address. This is known as 'vouching.' A registered voter can vouch for up to eight voters. You cannot vouch for others if someone vouched for you.
2. If you live in a residential facility, a staff person can go with you to the polling place to confirm your address. This is known as 'vouching.' A staff person can vouch for all eligible voters living in the facility. The staff person must prove their employment at the facility. There are several ways to do this, including by showing an employee badge. Learn more about voter registration in residential facilities. (Group home type thing.... could someone force others to vote the way a staff member wants them too?)
3. Student ID and something showing your address: phone bill, lease, bank statement, credit card bill, city bill, etc. Just has to be dated 30 days prior to election day.
Kind of easy to cheat.... especially the "VOUCHING". So yeah.... when you see new people, you have never seen before at the poles. Come and vote. With some of the "vouching" and only wanted to vote for president. Things smell fishy. Now I have no clue how they voted. But see what I am getting at. I had "students" from a college 20 miles away voting in our district... they produced papers showing they lived there. Which was legal. But could they also have voted on campus too? I know I did when I was in college.... away from home. Could people have possibly voted TWICE... possibly. How many people/students "update" their registration cards? Especially with the "record" turn out. Maybe.... look how numbers dropped the next election. Just saying.
Now with what I purposed doesn't change one thing with those 3 ways to register in my state...but that is a STATE ISSUE.
But if you don't see that something needs to be done to regain faith in our process. Be it ID to vote, banning the "mail in" vote that was introduced during COVID as mainstream, or other little things. Then you are blind and can't be helped.
I saw irregularities from one election to another to another. Yes there were outlier factors as well....ie: Covid, non traditional candidates (TRUMP), etc. It will be interesting the next presidential cycle. Hopefully I am still around to help.
