Cool commercial
The only part that seems offensive is the end when the professor laughs and the students laugh.
Why would they laugh? If they omit that part, the ad is good.

Falling empires do empirialistic things trying to hold on to their former glory. Yeah, sure Libya is a strong adversary.

no news there.

Your link takes us to a website apparently run by "Ayn Rand cultist sheep", which calls its credibility into question.

If I had to list the 2 most prominent factors in
U.S. decline over last 50 years, I'd say drugs & right wing media ; 2 "malignancies" that have greatly contributed to the "dumbing down of America".

Another factor, Tini, would be the "welfare state", which props up non productive depressives such as yourself---------;)

She told me to come up with ten original oxymorons.

and cmon Pri, "Drugs and rightwing media" Give me a fucking break.

Booze has caused as much damage as all the other drugs put together and has been around forever, as to "right wing media", left wing media is every bit as bad, have you listed to Ed Schultz or any of the other wackos from the left lately? They give Glenn Beck a run for his money on the wacko meter.

but you do have a point about the "welfare state" we have created a monster where the family has been replaced by "Daddy Government" and entire generations have lost the ability to fend for themselves, and just like any other addiction "getting clean" from wefare addiction will incur some serious withdrawl pains from those that are addicted.

& you don't think it's been a MASSIVE "societal ill" in ADDITION to booze ?! Did this country really need that added headache ?!

Despite my personal antipathy toward "rightwing media" & illegal drugs, have to face the fact that "toothpaste is out of the tube" in re to both "societal ills", which is why I'm against bringing back "the fairness doctrine" & support the legalization of certain drugs.

pria, that would be the 1860's, right? Back then, anyone could buy heroin, cocaine, barbituates, etc., over the counter. Many commercial products had them as ingredients to 'improve mental and physical health'. Where do you think Coca Cola got it's name? It originally was green in color, and contained cocaine.

as they did in the mid 1960's; usage of POT went WAY up & became "culturally accepted"; also , extensive use of LSD, which was "accidentally created" by Swiss chemist Albert Hoffman in 1936.

I saw it once and figured the far liberal left could not let the American people understand in plain language where we are going. 2012 will be bad enough for them, they want to get someone elected.

We didn't tax and spend ourself out of a recession. We cut taxes and increased spending. It's the same formula that's been in use since the Reagan administration.

A great book by Neil Postman. His premise is television has been the major source in dumbing down the populace.

He discusses policits, religion, and a host of other areas.

Just an example: The use of image rather than content is better suited to TV in 1,000 ways.  For example, a one hour show on whales would have a lot of pretty pictures, but little hard content.  On the other hand, a book about whales would have few pictures, but a lot of content.

Don't have time for a full review, but it is great.

Also, "The image by Borestein" (I think) discusses the impact of fast image that fits TV versus serious discussion in print.

I am not knocking TV. There is a lot of good stuff that I like.  But somethings don't get covered well in 3-minute stories
