"wisdom and tolerance" ?? you are sooo gullible.  If he had the balls to make a decision to put "country first", he'd have gone with a vastly more qualified option:  Gov Crist of FL, Gov Jindal of LA, or Pawlenty of MN.   Then I'd have some respect for him.

But no ... he chose to pander to the base ... picks a hill-billy gun-toting mother of 5 whose qualifications include being "mother of a beautiful family" & Gov of "the largest state"

Face it: she was picked because of her FAR right idealogy....

As someone who will not vote for McCain....He gave a good speech.  I was glad that he highlighted the failures of the past 8 years of a Republican Administration and 6 years of a republican controlled congress.

The only way he has a chance of winning is a full repudiation of the Bush administration. However, why would Americans  trust another Republican to do what is right.  McCain was part of the problem and agreed with Bush over 90% of time.  I don't think we can trust an man to change Washington with a record like that.

McCain = McSame!!
OBAMA in 08!!!

...from 6 years ago, because the democratic congress now is one of the main factors why our economy is down. it was 2006 that our economy started to go down, and it was 2006 that the DIMoCRAPpic Congress was elected. if they made a bill 2 years ago to help out americans with housing troubles, then our economy would've been fine. instead, they passed the "foreclosure" bill 2 years later....which is 2 years too late.

pelosi and her democratic merry men have the lowest approval ratings of any congress in US history. 12%! wow. she doesn't want to vote on drilling. do you know why? her and her husband are invested (by $250K) on CLNE stocks. it's proposition 7 in california's november ballot that she's banking on. when it's passed (and note, i said "when" and not "if"), pelosi is a rich bitch.

we need to fire the democratic congress. they're a bunch of incompetents. f%$* the DIMoCRAPpic congress!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Bush administration was running massive deficits before the Democrats took over Congress in 2007.  And lenders were making ridiculous home loans before 2007.  If you're looking for the source of the mortgage problems and oil prices, go no further than Phil Gramm, McCain's top economic advisor and the author of legislation that deregulated financial institutions and commodities trading.

You are right on Tusayan, The GOP began running deficits the moment they got in.  Cut taxes for the well off and spend out lavishly on an futile war in the Middle East.  McCain was right in the middle of it and still thinks we would have won the war in Viet Nam!  Of course he wasn't watching TV then or reading the bullshit that the Generals were putting out.
Once he was a Maverick and now just another pol looking for the big job.

sitting down with BinLaden and asking him to play nice.  After all, I am sure he is just misunderstood.

1. Imitation  - which is the easiest.
2. Relection  - which is the noblest.
3. Experience - which is the bitterest.

It is only through experience that a person achieves the most precious attribute of a great leader and that is wisdom. Wisdom is more important than knowledge, money, oratory skills, degrees or political acumen. A man who has known war is the one who thirsts for peace.

Senator McCain's bitter experiences will help achieve his goals. The heroes journey my friend is judged not by his success but by his failures. Senator McCain's mission over North Vietnam was a failure and was shot down. Trust me, being a Prisoner of War is a soldier's, marine's or sailor's worst nightmare. It's humilating. Senator McCain will act as a commander-in-chief from personal experiences of watching his buddies die and having sons in the Armed Forces.

Senator McCain's greatest moral failure was the failure of his first marriage. HIs judgement of character failed him with the Keating Savings and Loan fiasco. At the convention he acknowledged the failure of Republican party to rein in spending and other scandals etc.

He was the first to extend the hand of friendship and forgiveness to the people of Vietnam. During his senatorial career he has fought against pork barrel spending and fought for political reform. Because he knows the military and Washington from the inside he knows where his challenges will be and will use his wisdom to govern accordingly.

A testament of his wisdom and tolerance is demnostrated by his choice of his Vice President. He knew Gov. Palin's seventeen-year old daughter was pregnant and instead of running away from her, he embraced her and her family. Senator McCain was saying to Gov. Palin, hey, let's cut the bullshit we got work to do. Gov. Palin has the charm, intelligence, panache, humor and toughness to assist McCain in cleaning up Washington. Those are the characteristics he needs as a subordinate and he chose wisely.
