Well it's incremental in that they aren't throwing prostitutes in prison.

The Nordic model (criminalization of clients only) is continuing to spread across the US. There are zero human rights organizations in the world that support it, as there is no verifiable evidence to show that it reduces trafficking or betters the lives of sex workers in any way. Even if the specific Nordic model is not in place where you reside it is continuing to be the norm of stings going after clients only. Consensual sex workers do *NOT* want the Nordic Model. We do not want our good clients being arrested for attempting to meet with someone they thought was a consensual sex worker.
Please....do your research. Please speak out and do everything you can to keep our community safe and to support the full decriminalization of all adult consensual sex work.

Some things improve incrementally.  Do you not view this as incrementally in the right direction (half step)?

The answer is no. The proponents of these laws see them as the answer to the “problem” of prostitution. Which is the problem with the laws, they require an iron-clad assumption that absolutely all SW is a social ill.

It’s been the law of the land in Sweden since 1999. Quite a few countries have followed along, and somebody please correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t know of anyplace that’s done this and later reversed it or moved towards decriminalizing.

Ann Martin, head of Sweden’s “trafficking unit” had this to say:
“I think of course the law has negative consequences for women in prostitution but that’s also some of the effect that we want to achieve with the law. It shouldn’t be as
easy as it was before to go out and sell sex… For me, a woman who goes into prostitution is not a happy woman, something happened to her. If you’re a normal woman with a normal upbringing, it’s not a step you take.”

Sounding incremental yet? I could go on and on proving it but everyone here hates that.

Google it. The more you read about it the more you’ll see that the entire purpose of these laws is to eliminate the sex industry; and that the driving theory behind them is that all sex work always and only occurs on a continuum of male violence against women.

Keywords for your searches: Nordic model, Swedish model, asymmetrical enforcement model, equality model, purchaser criminalization, it’s all pretty much the same thing under different names.

I will quickly note that Ireland passed similar laws and a couple years later a study found that violent crime against prostitutes had almost doubled. That study concluded that the best way to prevent this violence is full decriminalization.

Well it's incremental in that they aren't throwing prostitutes in prison.

Ugh.
No I suppose they’re not arresting prostitutes. All they’re doing to them is:

Arresting their good clients
Stalking them in order to do that
Which causes many of them difficulty getting good housing
Pigeon-holing ALL of them into a “victim who must be rescued” stereotype
Endangering them by driving the industry underground & stirring up paranoia among the clients
Reinforcing the stigmas they already live under
Ignoring the advice of nearly every human rights organization
All with zero inclination to consider change or examine the facts of the matter. (Sort of like you)
And I can go on but why?

But if you absolutely insist on mindlessly silver lining it for us all then sure, “AT LEAST” they’re not arresting prostitutes.

I’m done. Call me whatever you will, I won’t see it. Go read about all this for yourself, as I said last time. Although I doubt you will.  Either way, we’re just going to agree to disagree and move on.

Fkk all the way! That would be amazing! But I doubt we’ll get there. Decriminalize all of it I say!

I’ve never been over to Germany but my understanding is the FKKs and all that is pretty highly regulated. Like, allegedly you can’t even get a HJ without an industrial strength condom. At least, if she’s following the rules you can’t.

Is that true?

Industrial strength condom.  LOL
I do *not* have personal knowledge of the legal system for sex work in Germany, only from what I have read. It is legal and regulated, but they do have an issue with trafficking because of their location and gals are brought in from some of the poorer surrounding countries. This is what I have read, as to how accurate it is I do not know.
The ultimate goal is decriminalization, but I would be OK if we could start out with a voluntary system to "register". I think gals that wish to do this would also greatly reduce the scams and spam BS that plagues this industry. Again voluntary, if someone does not wish to do so they should not be forced. I would also be OK with checkups every 6 months or so to help keep our community safe.
I know people's biggest concern with sex work continues to be street based, which you very seldom see now days anyway because of the internet. Agencies, brothels, independent workers, massage parlors, and strip clubs should all be able to exist safely and without coercion or concern.
Forms of the Nordic model exist in some communities in the US, or they may not have something legally in place but it is how they are functioning. Stings ruin lives. They do not help anyone. But also because of the illegality of this industry scams are running rampant with not a realistic end in sight.
Please continue to spread the word to keep our community safe that they only real solution for everyone, providers and clients, is the decriminalization of sex work.

There all the girls are registered and carry photo IDs that look like Drivers Licenses. At most hotels they are required to check in at the front desk and leave their ID there before going up to your room. That way, if there's a problem you have recourse by complaining to the front desk. Girls will not risk losing their card to steal from you. You are also generally required to pay a $20 fee to the front desk. I used that system for many years without any problem.

I was on the tryst home page http://tryst.link/us and scrolled all the way down to these sections:
Tryst.link Sex Worker Blog
Why does sex work need to be decriminalised, not just legalised?
Sex Workers on Decriminalisation - 8 minute video
How can I help the sex workers rights movement?
Help reduce stigma in the industry
Amplify and include the voices of Sex Workers
etc..
.
I haven't read it all but I hope to get around to it.
