mainly because I'm really surprised to see how seriously this topic is being treated, when I think of it as just a moronic toss-off in between more substantive posts about the topics which really interest me.  Like, whateverever happened to Rin-Tin-Fuckin-Tin?

There has been a flick in theatrical release for several weeks, not doing well at the box-office, about an inept superhero who is publicly reveiled and resorts to hiring a PR consultant to revamp his image.  Interesting idea, methinks.  The flick is "Hancock" with Will Smith.

I ignored this upon it's release, but today I skimmed a review in The New Yorker, and I thought, this is the POTUS Bush superhero avatar.  Seems that Hancock is a down-on-his-luck wino who has superpowers, but is incredibly inept and ham-handed in their use, and causes as much damage and suffering as he prevents.  Well, that sounds like our Presidential boy alright.

I'll have to see it. Why not see DK? You might at least   get unstuck from the topic.

PS: Batman does not have super powers. He has nifty gizmos, but no powers.

you are correct, I was using the term "superhero"  generically.

I saw "Batman Begins," and I think that exhausts my exposure to cinematic Batman treatments.  now, if only I hadn't tossed all my comics back in late 1968...

I do like this topic, in spite of it's frivolity...
