Tariffs are taxes the consumer (you and me) pay on good and services imported into a country.The exporting countries nor businesses do not pay these taxes but added it to the price of that product.
America is in trouble financially, that's why you see deep cuts to federal jobs,USAID,eliminating the department of education etc...we are broke ,we cannot afford it and they have no inteinterest in making the rich pay their fair amount of taxes.Note,these are the very people who put millions into his campaign. America is the most indebted country in the world ; federal debt and personal debt are at an all time high ; we import more than we export .

Look,the Trump tax cut for the rich 2016,ends in June this year,and they are going to have trouble extending it, so how do they intend to pay for it.Next up they will tell you that giving more tax cut to the rich will create jobs - the typical trickle down politics that never work, because it's value is too low ,and take too long to see any dividend.
Yes economic fear and uncertainty is one hell of a thing, and discrectiionary spending will definitely affect products that are not necessity. Dating is a need, and will not be greatly affected.
The fired government workers are now desperate and will seek job in the private sector. Many will be accepting lower wages , face job insecurity and depleted benefits etc..
The private sector will now be saturated with more people seeking good paying job that are not abundant. This will not only drive down wages, but also companies now have the upper hand to do whatever they wish to employees.
Even if a few jobs come back to America it will likely be automation and A.I. jobs that does not require great numbers of people.
