Is he right? Obviously he is not talking about any of the Clintons rising to power ever again, but rather should their ideology continue to be that of which the DNC continues to adhere to.

It sounds to me like Jones is saying Dem party needs to go further to the left and implies Keith Ellison should be DNC chair.

So my question is, is he right? Is what ails the Dems the fact that they are too centrist and not progressive enough?

Alan Dershowitz has said that he would leave the party if it chooses Ellison as chair. I just think it would be awfully difficult to attack Trump on any of the "Alt-right" nonsense while the Dems choose an anti-Semite in Ellison.

Happy New Year to all, btw.

Van Jones is correct and you are not slick Jack.

You and Alan Dershowitz are really hiding behind the fact Ellison is a Muslim?
This is the thing that really bothers people like you and Dershowitz!
He is not a anti-Semite either.

I really hope he only means the Clinton family era is over. IMHO, the Democratic Party has tilted even further to the (Hard) left than the GOP has to the (alt) right. The example I present is this:

There has ALWAYS been a small but vocal ultra Nationalist faction, from the Nazi rallies in Skokie. Ill to the KKK rallies of David Duke and now Richard Spencer. They are newly empowered by the aura of Steve Bannon and the nationalist speeches of PE DJT and are multiplying like the vermin they are, but they've always been there and we knew it.

But the Hard Left has risen steadily in the last 20 years thanks mainly to the billions of dollars infused by George Soros via the network of shell companies and "socially progressive" organizations many of which are geared towards delegitimization of Israel, and even some that espouse an enforced adherence to Sharia Law. And much. though not all, much of this has, over the last 16 years insinuated and infused itself within the Democratic Party. There were more Palestinian flags, Iraqi flags, Crescent Moon banners and Mexican flags than there were American flags. I'm all for diversity, but how could they sanction the burning of Israeli and AMERICAN flags outside that same convention? It was appalling to me and deeply disturbing. The Democratic Party is becoming more and more openly hostile to the Jews, Israeli-affiliated or not.

Sorry, went off on a rant...

If Ellison does become the new DNC chair, I expect to see a large migration of Jews AWAY from the Democrats, some will move to the Republican side if Trump is as pro-Israel as indicated so far. Others will remain true to their Democratic principles on a local scale while eschewing the national scene.

Then there are those who, like me, are fed up with all of it, and vote their conscience and not the party line.

Frankly, I believe this last election signals a shift in the entire paradigm of national elections and voting.

The Republican party is dead as we know it.
The Democratic party is dead as we know it.

Some things take awhile, but its there. Like a lightning bolt hitting a tree and burning it from the inside out over a period of weeks while it smolders and disintegrates until nothing is left but the burnt exterior bark.

The schism is apparent. Its not D or R its (L) iberal and (C)onservative and (P)rogressive and (E)vangelical etc etc etc
And its all going to be driven by Social Media.
