I e-mailed & will speak directly with the reps of the T boone plan to try & find out how they're going to implement it.
I take it you fell T Boone is not a sincere American citizen by your response, just an old fart that wants attention. I don't see it that way......
Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann has always been a complete embarrassment. She's a religious freak and dumb as a box of rocks (redundant, I know). Here is her general quote in favor of unrestrained drilling for oil and against Nancy Pelosi:
"[Pelosi] is committed to her global warming fanaticism to the point where she has said that she's just trying to save the planet," Bachmann told the right-wing news site OneNewsNow. "We all know that someone did that over 2,000 years ago, they saved the planet -- we didn't need Nancy Pelosi to do that."
So, because her imaginary friend had an imaginary bastard child global climate change is not an issue, and responsible environmental policy is unnecessary.
http://www.pickensplan.com/?c=Google&a=Pickens-Keywords&k=[t.+boone+pickens]
While clean & renewable sources are stressed, drilling isn't ruled out as a contributor....This is a smart guy who wants to see the USA free of dependence on the Saudi's
Michelle Bachmann is awesome. We can have gasoline below $3.00 if we just start drilling. Drilling is the only way we are going to get out of this mess. Drill in alaska and drill off shore and drill on land and in 30 months the oil will be flowing.
I suppose Tammy Bruce is stupid too. Maybe you should go to her website and read up on oil before you write a bunch of foolishness. Ha ha ha ha.
Nancy Pelosi IS THE WORST SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY. She will not let the house even vote on crucial energy bills BECAUSE SHE KNOWS THE DIRTY ROTTEN DEMOCRAPS WOULD LOSE. What do you think of that?!?!!!
As for T. Boone Pickens--- he wishes he had a bone between his own legs!!!!! That old fart! This is his way of making a few quick million or just getting attention before he croaks.
FACT: WE DO NOT HAVE THE POWER GRID TO TRANSPORT ELECTICITY FROM NEBRASKA OR SOUTH DAKOTA TO LA. To much electricity is lost on the lines. T. Boone knows this and it is a fact that he leaves out. Plus he is invested heavily in the fiberoptic system technology for electricity transport that his little windmill scheme would require. SIDE NOTE- Ronald Reagan wanted to build a monster fiberoptic power grid along with the monster nuclear accelerator just outside of Dallas but the Democraps nixt that. Ronald Reagan wanted the USA to lead the world in physics!!!! I bet a lot of people didn't know that!!!!!
Long live freedom!! Down with Democrap stupidity!!!
You missed the point. Drilling may or may not resolve the problem of high gasoline costs. There is a reasonable argument that the cost of gasoline is not the only issue. It is debatable.
The point is that Bachmann is universally insane. She fasted and prayed for three days to get her imaginary friend's permission to run for congress (he apparently gave her permission on the second day, but she kept it up to make sure). Bachmann orgasmed over Bush at a state of the union address. She is utterly ignorant of each issue she tackles. She is barely coherent.
Trust me, GOP Geezer, you don't want that religious lunatic on your side of the debate. If Bachmann says drilling is good, it MUST be bad.
- - - - -
By the way, how will drilling for oil, when we only sit on 3% of the world's oil reserves and use 25% of the world's oil,and when the oil we drill for won't even be out of the ground for 6 to 10 years drop the price of gasoline below $3.00 per gallon?
Before you say that the "democraps" (very clever, by the way) unilaterally blocked drilling and if we had started ten years ago everything would be fine, remember that form of response can be extended. If the "republicanTs" (hey, this is fun) had not dismantled Carter's policy of conservation, alternative energy, and new technology, we wouldn't need to drill in environmentally sensitive areas to get the tiny bit of oil down there.
Anyway, Jimmy Carter!! Jimmy Carter! A classic example of someone with brains being a total----- I can't say it.
Didn't Jimmy say we were going to run of of oil in ten years back in 1979?!?!! hehehehe
Michelle Bachmann might be over the top for some people but Nancy Pelosi is corrupt. Nancy Pelosi belongs in prison!!!
OBAMA IS JIMMY CARTER!! If Obama gets elected, we're gonna have to suffer thru another Carter term.
Break out the tire gauges and the sweaters. Make do with less. we must suffer for the greater good.

Using your own two examples. . .
Government sponsored technology can develop the nuclear weapon from scratch in less than 4 years, move from Kennedy's challenge to man on the moon in 8 years, yest we can't produce one drop of new oil for maybe 10 years? And that's not even considering the elapsed time's affect on technology. Of course there IS all those government regulations that severely slow things down today. We could never again (without a unified will for success) repeat a project like the Hoover Dam in the same time peiod.
Good point.
Even better, Hoover (Boulder) Dam was privately funded and built. The government just bought it later.
Hypocritical? I don't know. Of course private industry comes up with all sorts of cool stuff. I just won't accept that government can't do anything right.
Anyway, it is the oil industry that says there wouldn't be any oil for 6 to 10 years (although I imagine it wouldn't be hard to find a source that says otherwise).
It's their ACTIONS are all that matter. What are you? Part of the thought police now?
one who initiated energy conservation programs such as building energy efficiency regulations i.e. insulation standards etc. which in California is promulgated in Title #21. The stategic oil reserve was also one of his many lauded intiatives.
He also pushed for offshore drilling, fastracked the construction of oil refineries, power plants and the Alaska Pipeline. The pipeline actually began under President Nixon but the project was stalled in environmental red-tape. President Ford was also the one who intiated the miles per gallon (mpg) standards on motor vehicles etc.
President Ford was pushing for offshore drilling and the construction of nuclear plants and alternative fuel sources. The conservation segment of his comphrensive energy plan he was able to achieve and I congradulate President Carter for building upon Ford's intiatives but he failed with offshore drilling, nuclear and alternative fuel sources. Carter scuttled those plans and instead as GOP Geezer said, he wanted us to wear sweaters. brrrr.
Where Carter failed was in not persuing energy independence as a National Security issue like Ford did. It wasn't until 1980 did President Carter finally address energy as a National Security issue in his famous Carter Doctrine speech. By then it was too late.
Please take time to read President Ford's speech and you will see what a visionary he was. His goal was to achieve energy independence by 1985.

As I mentioned on my blogsite (link below), oil prices are based on oil futures. this means that oil prices will drop immediately once the house lifts the ban. it will drop more once oil starts flowing in 36 months.
nancy pelosi is the worst speaker in my lifetime. she's a lyin' conniving bitch. can you believe that she turned off the lights on her colleagues because she didn't want them to vote on drilling??? where is she when americans are paying $4/gallon everyday? where are the democrapic house when we're all paying outrageous amounts at the pumps? when oil prices go up, everything goes up.
just in case you haven't notice this, but when the democrapic house majority, who were elected in late 2006, got into office on january 2007 ...that's when our economy started going down. if you look at congress' track record, most of the time whenever we have a democrapic house, the economy doesn't do well.
can you just imagine having a democrapic house and barry soetoro in the oval office? yikes! get ready to hold on to your wallets!...and hold it well!
On the other hand, a side by side comparison of the economy with the political party of the president over the past century shows an almost one for one correlation of bad economies with republican presidents (Eisenhower being the exception) and good economies with Democratic presidents (Carter being the exception).
Probably fair to leave out the 1940's. World wide war and all. And, no, calling the economy good under Reagan is revisionism. The economy was in very bad shape under Reagan.
Double digit unemployment coupled with double digit inflation and interest rates. He left Gearge H with a very healthy economy which Bush1 which managed quite well until Greenspan took an iron hand to the economy and pushed us into recession. Your version is the revisionist one.
Clinton did not "fix" anything, he basically stayed the fuck out of the way and let the economy boom. I give him high marks for having the wisdom to leave the economy the fuck alone, many other Presidents would not have been able to resist the urge to fix what was not broken.
The eternal political debate: Who is originally to blame? It is along the lines of "what came first, chicken or egg?"
(Bad example, it was the egg. Anyway, you know what I mean).
The argument can be made that Carter inherited an economy in shambles that Ford tried to fix with WIN buttons.
Don't know about Bachmann but Pelosi is a certified lunatic. As far as the energy issue is concerned if we found water in Mars so if we stop bickering, start to think rationally we can and will solve this problem.
It will take Nuclear, Wind, Solar, Bio-waste, Thorium, Gas Hydrate (naturally occurring ocean phenomenon), etc.
The question is do we elect President, Senators and Congress based on their ability to think and act rationally to solve problems or do we elect them based on their commercials, press coverage, partisan ship and lack of rational and practical thought and leadership.
So far, we seem to have done the latter. Throw all of them out!
T. Boone's idea would require some kind of new electricity transport power grid but it is not fiberoptic. It's something else and I can't remember what it is called.
I e-mailed & will speak directly with the reps of the T boone plan to try & find out how they're going to implement it.
I take it you fell T Boone is not a sincere American citizen by your response, just an old fart that wants attention. I don't see it that way......
a blindless follower in you, "imagining" that the Pair of Pelosis' stand on NO new offshore drilling is for environmental reasons.
I don't care what Bachmann believes as long as she does the correct thing.
The Pair of Pelosis don't care what they themselves believe, as long as they get what they want.
1. I'm dim today. I don't get the "Pair of Pelosis" joke. It doesn't mean I won't think it is funny. I'm not so partisan that I can't laugh at all politicians.
2. I don't like Pelosi as Speaker of the House. She's weak and doesn't stand up to the administration. This isn't a partisan thing: any time the Speaker of the House is not in the same political party as the President, he or she should always be prepared to oppose the President on policy issues.
3. The point of the original message was that Bachmann is a religious nut to the point of being incoherent. She may very well be mentally ill, based on her behavior and statements.
4. It is OK to say, "I'm a loyal republican, but Michelle Bachmann is a little scary. She isn't doing us any favors."
It doesn't mean that Pelosi isn't every bit as scary. Yes, we do need to drill, but no even if we break out every rig in this country and drill every where we know there is oil and every other place that we "think" there is oil. we aren't going back to $50 oil in 30 months or 300 months for that matter.
It is very easy to say that because some religious nut job is on one side of an issue, she must be on the wrong side. Being an idiot Jesus freak doesn't make you wrong on every other issue. I don't know why it doesn't, lol but it doesn't.
The first hour today was about------oil! Russia and other countries are doing everything they can to increase production and here in the US, we're doing everything to decrease production..
And Russia is whacking Georgia because of OIL!!! Russia wants to control the only non-Russian pipeline from the east going into Europe.
The US gov cannot legislate new technology. Only the market can create new technology.
we must drill in Alaska cause there's lots of oil up there and we must drill right off of Seal Beach, New Port beach and LaJolla CA cause there's lot of oil there and there will NOT be any oil spills. We don't have to worry about oil spills because the oil companies have technology that they've been using for the last 20 years that reduces oil spills.
"The US gov cannot legislate new technology. Only the market can create new technology."
It was a stirring time when private industry developed the atomic bomb to end world war II and sent a man to the moon. Sputnik was a triumph of the invisible hand of the free market.
And, let's not forget about Tang, dehydrated ice cream, and space food sticks. Yum yum yum.
Government can encourage or discourage research and development, and is in a unique position to facilitate such change either directly or by private industry.
The only reason oil companies have developed technology to reduce oil spills is because the law required it. Left to their own devices, they and other industries would pollute without restraint to maximize profit to the detriment of people. There are also a lot of spills in Alaska to this day. It is a fairly common occurrence. The Alaska pipeline is deteriorating badly and the companies that have an ownership interest have not been doing much about it until quite recently because - that's right, you guessed it - because it would have cost money.
However, I digress: None of that turned Michelle Bachmann into a speaking-in-tongues, bible-spewing, logic bereft, simple minded, moron. She did that to herself.

Refers to Pelosi and BHO.
Your post didn't criticize Pelosi at all. To the contrary, it seemed to support Pelosi. I was only rebuking you for that. Now you say your even handed in your criticism of Pelosi?
I am just so fricken tired of this we can't drill more 'cause it won't help, at least not for 10 years.
Pelosi's argument is such a specious one. It's the same argument that declares Bill Gates shouldn't bend over to pick up $10,000 on the sidwalk because he makes far more than that just breathing.
Hate Bachmann all you want. I don't care. Vote against her. Move into her district so you can vote against her. Contribute the maximum allowed to defeat her, great. But to declare EVERYTHING someone does simply because of their religious beliefs is just so. . . I'll just say stupid for now.
I don't know if I ever claimed I was even handed in my criticism of Pelosi. I didn't see the need to be. My orignal issue was that Bachmann is an unstable religious lunatic. The example I chose simply happened to include a reference to Pelosi by Bachmann. Whether or not Pelosi is right, wrong, corrupt, or honest is irrelevant to that observation. Bachmann is mentally ill. Pelosi is just weak and weakly pursues policies republicans don't like.
_______
"Can't drill more 'cause it won't help." I think the argument is more along the lines that drilling for more oil has the potential to damage the environment of some extraordinary natural spots; to foster a system dependent upon a polluting, non-renewable, and severely finite resource and; to top it all off, is not an answer to the immediate short term issue. As such, perhaps it might be a more prudent idea to apply the resources to a different solution than more oil from relatively unspoiled areas.
Christ's wife, Michelle Bachmann, thinks it will solve the immediate and long term problem, that there is no global climate change, and the Jeebus already fixed all of the problems 2000 years ago.
She's a fucking delusional nut job.
My assessment of Bachmann is not meant as a defense of Pelosi on this or any other issue. Bachmann is a lunatic all on her own. Her delusions shape her actions. I think I made the joke that if Bachmann believes something it must be wrong. Obviously, if she believes the sky is blue on a sunny day, she is right despite her absurd superstitions. But, she's wrong on the global climate change and need to institute solutions issues, and I object to her because the basis of her reasoning (on this and far too many issues that affect real life situations) is that her imaginary friend already took care of everything.
Bachmann's religious beliefs shape and control who she is, and are the most salient manifestation of her mental illness.
all the possible sand up that dead horse's ass.
Environmental dangers to more drilling? Of all the hundreds of rigs in the Gulf during all the hurricanes of the past two decades, how many consequential spills has there been?
Pelosi simply wants higher prices because she thinks it will help her retain power and gain more power.
As long as Bachmann's actions are in line with my goals I don't care if she used a Ouija board.
Several things occurred to me as I read through this thread...
1) drilling - we have considerable more than only 3% of the reserves... fact is, we just don't know how much we have as we stopped exploration.
2) all are correct in that drilling alone will not increase output by much... refining capacity and the modernization of that capacity is much needed.... other countries are already ahead of us on that.
3) Sources of energy need not be a single type of power generation... and if the energy souce is appropriately devised, the power generation can be stored and hopefully transported. A problem with some forms of energy is that they have to be converted into a portable form. (Hydroelectric to electricity is a good example.)
4) Energy transmission is somewhat tricky - you need something that can traverse distances with a great deal of power. Optical transmission - or fiber optic - cannot transmit a great deal of power... however, high temperature superconductors can.... that is one bet.
5) power and energy sources are likely to go through transitions and transformations over the next CENTURY - not just a few years.... get over it.
6) Whatever we use in the interim - should fit within our existing power distribution infrastructure...
7) Energy needs to be affordable - to not make it so in our economy and society is to penalize the poor... Which is why - for the life of me - I cannot see poor folk thinking the obama and pelosi are "their friends" (but then again - neither is McCain)
8) Unless we do solve our energy crisis (and we DO have one) we will not be poised to do anything even 50 years out. In fact, we will become worse off than the 3rd world.
9) Yes, a war is a commin.... but guess what - it will not be over energy - cause other countries are not going to sacrifice their well being, the soveignty and their power structure for our hollywood and AL No Bell Prize asshole Gore global warming crowd... Not one. The You're-a-peeings have already exceeded their carbon "Credits!" and no one has uttered a single word.... not al Gore, not the Sundance crowd, not the supremes court... not even the court jester. and the Chinese.... Think about it - just to get the air clear for the olympics, they banned autos in the city...!!!! look around you folk.... we are the laughing stock of the world... cause we are doing ourselves in. And by the way, the war will be over water.

the hobby and marijuana for that matter than most dems.
bachmann popped out a bunch of her own kids and then was a foster mother to a bunch more. I get the impression that she is an optimistic realist. She's a Christian but Christians and Jews are more pleasant to be around than a lot of nasty atheists---for the most part- always exceptions.
but I have to confess, I read up a little on Bachman and her jesusfreak tendencies aside, I actually like the woman and her positions.
I know people like Moose want to make us all or nothing when it comes to supporting politicians, but as an independent I don't expect to completely agree with any politician.
While Bachman and I definitely disagree on things like abortion rights and school prayer, I find her quite reasonable on most other and to me at least, more important issues.
You don't have to be a jesus freak to think Al Gore is full of shit, and exploiting the proven ofshore reserves, our Alaskan reserves and maybe even more importantly our shale reserves just makes good sense to anyone with half a brain, which excludes Pelosi of course. It makes a lot more sense then raising taxes on the very companies that can actually do something about increasing domestic production.
Interesting. You may very well be right about the water issue.
Not by R and D, extra points for ultra-liberal D's and ultra-conservative R's.
I'll keep one Michelle Bachman R the loony Christian for a Dennis Kucinich D, the atheist who believes in space aliens.
I'll keep Mark Foley R, the dink who emails kids for Gerry Studds D the sex offender who got a page drunk and raped him. (And won in landslides in MA afterwards.)
I'll keep Bob Packwood R, who got drunk and tried to kiss ladies on elevators, had to quit the Senate and was run out of town, you keep Ted K. D who who got drunk and drowned one, ran for President, nearly got nominated, and has been in Senate for 40 yrs following that woman's death.
I'll keep the disgusting Larry Craig R who enjoys sex in toilets, you keep the disgusting Barney Frank who allowed a male escort service to be run out of his home.
Where do we get these losers we keep electing? I don't know anyone in my personal or professional life who is as fucked up as any member of the MA Congressional delegation, who coincidentally are all Democrats.
