Yes folks, another interesting footnote in the amnnals of Bush the Younger. I glanced at the clendar and it's appx 25 weeks to the inaugruation of either Senator McCain or Senator Obama.
Well, to make a long story les long, the Inspector General of the US Depat of Justice issued a report plainly fingering Monica Goodling, one-time aide to one-time Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez, as the guilty party who introduced political criteria into the hiring and promotion decisions of career, non-political DOJ attorneys. [Quoting from the Times article, which is a paraphrase of the report findings, she "introduced politics into the hiring process in a systematic way that constituted illegal misconduct, the report found."]
Who would have thunk it? Ms. Goodling, it can be noted, was formerly an attorney for the Republican National Committee.
The report does NOT specifically address the controverail dismisals of 9 US attorneys, [but mentions them parenthetically] which was an issue last year.
I'm sure not too many are surprised.
Like I said, 25 weeks to go, and pretty much everyone is absolutely exhausted with everything POTUS Bush related.
The only thing that is surprising is that there are koolaid drinkers on the right side of the aisle that will somehow try to deny this. What is sad is that this type of behavior is so common on both sides it only seems newsworthy when "the other side" does it.
